U.S. Air Force - Agency Wide Police Officer- DIRECT HIRE AUTHORITY in Arnold AFB, Tennessee

The primary purpose of this position is to provide integrated defense, law enforcement, force protection, preserve the peace, protect life and civil rights, detect and investigate crimes, arrest/apprehend violators, respond to emergency situation, and perform patrols within the assigned jurisdictions. Responsibilities For additional information on direct hire opportunities with the Air Force please click here. Perform the full spectrum of police officer duties within the assigned jurisdictions. Conduct investigations of crimes and complaints covering a wide range of subjects and allegations that are not within the scope of Air Force Office of Special Investigations (AFOSI) or the scope of the higher level detectives assigned to the Squadron. Investigations involve searching crime scenes for clues, interviewing witnesses, following leads, analyzing and evaluating evidence, and locating and detaining suspects within assigned jurisdiction. Interview and obtain information while conducting formal investigations and inquiries into criminal acts such as assaults, major vehicle accidents, larceny of and/or damage to government and private property, minor drug offenses, pay and allowance matters, misdemeanor offenses involving misuse of government computers, and other incidents as directed by competent authority. Analyze and resolve conflicting testimony or evidence from witnesses through fact-finding until evidence to support a legal or administrative decision can be made. Determine the proper course of action and plans, coordinates, initiates, and take actions necessary to resolve the complaint or inquiry. Perform emergency response and incident command and control. Act as the initial on scene commander for significant and catastrophic events and initiate Air Force Incident Management System (AFIMS). Execute emergency response procedures designed to isolate, contain and defeat hostile actions and restore normal operations as quickly and efficiently as possible. Establish initial command and control as others react to neutralize threats, secure resources, personnel, and property. Responsible for establishing initial Entry Control Point (ECP), Traffic Control Points (TCP), directing emergency vehicles to safe routes, clearing cordon areas, and evacuating buildings. In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, (IOR) here. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level GS-06, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes Experience that provided knowledge of a body of basic laws and regulations, law enforcement operations, practices, and techniques and involved responsibility for maintaining order and protecting life and property. Creditable specialized experience may have been gained in work on a police force; through service as a military police officer; in work providing visitor protection and law enforcement in parks, forests, or other natural resource or recreational environments; in performing criminal investigative duties; or in other work that provided the required knowledge and skills. Position specific skills and experience desired in a potential candidate: Department of Defense Peace Officer Standards and Training (DoD P.O.S.T.) certified desired. Security Forces experience desired Two (2) years of Department of Defense (DoD) Police experience desired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to employ "Infantry/SWAT" small unit tactics involving fire and maneuver, with rapid advancing movement between defensive positions, while wearing protective gear for extended periods of time, (e.g. Employing "Active Shooter" response tactics and techniques as a member of a small team is required). Knowledge of law enforcement procedures, training requirements and operating methods required to perform the full range of police officer activities independently. Knowledge of special operating requirements, methods, and procedures for enforcing specialized personnel access controls to prevent unauthorized access to areas where stringent security requirements are enforced. Knowledge of appropriate use of force and self-defense techniques to protect oneself and others in threatening situations including the ability to subdue and control individuals as required. Ability to operate motor vehicles have a gross weight of 7,000 pounds or less, loading capacities of 1 ton or less, and 2 or 4 wheel drive to transport personnel and/or articles. Abitliy to work and communicate effectively orally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with community management, employees, and other law enforcement agencies. Education Additional Information NO 6-MONTH WAIT!
