Aerostar Technical Solutions is looking for a talented and experienced mechanical engineer to help design new products and solutions for our customers for our next-generation radars and stratospheric platforms, as well as enhance and maintain our current products. Aerostar's customers include commercial entities, NASA, and the Department of Defense.

Essential Functions

• Responsible for all aspects of hardware development. This will encompass all phases of design, including concept and detailed design development, CAD modeling efforts, documentation release, fabrication, integration, factory support and testing.

• Responsible for understanding technical performance of mechanical requirements of radar systems and applications to assure cost, schedule and technical performance is achieved.

• Present technical solution and technical data at milestone reviews.

• Create and update documentation for designs, and all phases of the project.

• Work with external customers, distributors, vendors, or suppliers to initiate new designs and solve problems.

• Coordinate engineering efforts and provide engineering assistance to internal teams or external customers.

• Keep abreast of new developments in the fields of engineering design, methods, and applications.

• Has extensive breadth and depth of knowledge in a field of specialization and working knowledge of other fields.

• Mentor and coach less experienced engineers

• Performs work of a diverse scope, where data requires evaluation of various factors.

• Exercises independent judgment with broadly defined practices and policies in obtaining results.

• Has critical project technical leadership responsibility; may plan or lead work assignments for lower level engineers and technicians.

• Works under minimal supervision.

• Progressively increases contributions and impact to the team and projects.

• Innovative in nature, and contributes new product ideas.

• Has knowledge of the business side, and contributes to strategic decisions.

Qualifications

• Advanced engineer with 15+ years of career experience, with Bachelor's degree. 12+ years with Master's degree. 10+ years with PHD. Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Furthers knowledge of profession through continued education and/or seeking or providing mentorship.

• May contribute to profession through writing white papers.

• Knowledge of Solidworks, PDM, as well as FEA modelling software

• Ability to apply design theory and methodology

• Knowledge of manufacturing techniques is preferred.

• Well-developed problem analysis and problem solving techniques.

• Proficiency with a computer, including use of Microsoft Word and Excel.

• Team player who is self-motivated, and has ability to work with minimal supervision.

• Ability to communicate effectively with team members and leadership staff.

• Secret Clearance of higher preferred

• US Citizenship required
