Amazon Sr. Technical Program Manager, Data Center Systems in Arlington, Virginia

Help us push the availability and reliability of cloud infrastructure to new heights! The AWS Data Center Systems team is seeking an experienced Technical Program Manager to drive global programs for the development and deployment of power and cooling resources in Amazon data centers.

The ideal candidate will have excellent analytical abilities, strong attention to details, risk identification and management skills, and an ability to ask the right technical questions to ensure appropriate trade-offs are made when negotiating resources, determining priorities, and escalating successfully. Exceptional written and oral communication skills are required to lead effective meetings with stakeholders to drive business and technical discussions. Experience with controls, mechanical, and/or electrical systems is also preferred.

As a Data Center Technical Program Manager, you must be able to develop and maintain deep global subject matter expertise to identify and prioritize software requirements to support data centers' controls, power, and cooling systems. You will be expected to take ownership and influence positive change, deploying and leveraging analytical data to drive scale, efficiency, performance, and automation improvement opportunities. Responsibilities include providing strategic insight across stakeholder teams during weekly business reviews and producing accurate and timely reporting on program status to leadership and business partners.

The position can be based in either Denver, Colorado or Seattle, Washington. It will also require occasional travel throughout the global AWS service area.

Key job responsibilities

Create and manage workflow processes that can globally scale.

Develop and leverage analytical metrics to measure success of program goals.

Produce accurate and timely reporting on program status for business and finance partners.

Identify gaps in tooling, information, process and work to develop solutions.

Gather feedback from internal customers and stakeholders to drive program improvements.

Develop new programs to support the strategic direction of the team with organizational goals.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of technical product or program management experience

  • 5+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience

  • 3+ years of technical program management working directly with software engineering teams experience

  • Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience

  • Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules

  • Experience defining KPI's/SLA's used to drive multi-million dollar businesses and reporting to senior leadership

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $133,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $231,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
