Customer Trust is a multi-disciplinary team responsible for the underlying programs, policies, and technology that are focused on earning and maintaining our customer’s trust. The Customer Trust Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) team is a centralized team that owns the development, implementation and management of the Ads Customer Trust GRC program. The Senior Risk and Compliance Manager will be responsible for defining and conducting risk assessment and owning the development and management of our overall control matrix for customer trust topics such as privacy, competition, antitrust, data governance, data ethics, and regulations that directly impact Amazon Advertising’s ability to process personal data.

As Senior Risk and Compliance Manager, you will partner with global teams including Privacy, Regulatory, Trust & Assurance, Customer Trust Engineering, Product & Programs, Legal, Internal Audit, finance and Ads product teams to maintain and mitigate compliance risks. You will work closely with our product, operations and engineering teams to improve policy mechanisms, analyze data to prioritize tool improvements, and help set the vision for automated review to enable policy governance at scale.

Key job responsibilities

  • Support the development, implementation and management of an Ads-wide GRC program for Customer Trust related matters.

  • Identify and conduct internal risk assessments against current compliance obligations and identify and prioritize the remediation of any identified gaps.

  • Lead the design and testing of all applicable controls. Enhance existing controls to ensure continued compliance with regulations, laws, and internal standards.

  • Collaborate with engineering and product SMEs across Ads to build develop and implement additional controls. Invent simple solutions to difficult regulatory issues. Track the compliance readiness and sign-off the go-live of compliance related products

  • Provide effective and timely advice on complex compliance matters to the business, in conjunction with our regulatory, legal and privacy teams, on how to manage and mitigate compliance risks.

  • Work with legal, regulatory, audit and business leads across Ads to develop, enhance and maintain our control framework.

  • Report to leadership on the effectiveness of the GRC Program.

  • Develop and maintain key relationships with internal stakeholders locally and around the world, including Customer Trust, Legal, and across Advertising product and program teams

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 5+ years’ experience in a policy, risk management, or program management role

  • Experience driving complex projects involving multiple stakeholders

  • Impeccable attention to detail; ability to balance this with the need to achieve immediate results

  • Proven track record of delivering projects within scope, time, budget and quality

  • Experience implementing repeatable processes and driving automation or standardization

Preferred Qualifications

  • 7+ years of relevant program and policy experience within a consumer-facing, technology, retail, trade association, or government environment

  • Strong understanding of privacy and/or security concepts, policies, and regulations

  • Experience with compliance or public policy in the technology industry

  • Strong project and/or program management and organizational skills

  • Experience in the advertising industry or a global technology company
