The WHS OpEx Senior Manager for Policy Implementation will be responsible for development and implementation of safety procedures to meet global WHS Standards and Policy (S&P). They will be responsible for close consultation with global WHS field units to support the interpretation of requirements into clear and measurable standard work. The OpEx Senior Manager for Policy Implementation is positioned between compliance and governance central offices and business unit field teams to manage the continuous adoption of procedures to comply with new and evolving S&P. They consult with WHS regional and site leaders to ensure the quality of procedure language, with the intent to ensure clear understanding for implementation across all geographies and business units. They will lead a comprehensive, scalable approach to deliver alignment and standardization across multiple organizations and geographies in the delivery of safety procedures, ensuring we always do what is right for the safety of our associates, contractors, and anyone coming onto our sites. This role requires writing experience, communication, project and program management, analytical, and organizational skills, and a passion for driving operational safety excellence.

Key job responsibilities

• Lead a team of program managers to deliver complex, full lifecycle, cross-functional programs with considerable impact across multiple organizations.

• Work autonomously in an ambiguous environment, proactively solving problems and identifying and mitigating risks.

• Identify continuous improvement metrics and effectively engage with stakeholders to set and drive quality goals.

• Identify and analyze data and anecdotal input to isolate issues, identify root causes and contributing factors, test solutions and develop resolution action plans.

• Continuously improve processes to ensure oversight and compliance with regulatory requirements.

• Drive change management efforts across various programs that become Amazon WHS best practices.

• Review, evaluate and determine the technological tools needed to automate WHS processes and standard work ensuring regulatory compliance with reporting requirements.

• Lead Improvement Projects/Kaizen events to bring together cross-functional teams to identify opportunities and achieve targeted performance improvement in a compressed time-frame.

• Manage complex and quick-turn integration projects while demonstrating exceptional business judgement.

• Role requires travel up to 25% of the time

Drawing from field expertise, OpEx partners with cross-functional teams to resolve global challenges and proactively support our 8,000+ WHS professionals. We partner with process owners to understand causal effects leading to defects, leverage process improvement tools and methodologies to eliminate defects and improve efficiency, and drive changes to optimize safety performance and create a culture of safety excellence.

Basic Qualifications

  • 7+ years of program or project management experience

  • 7+ years of cross functional project delivery experience

  • 7+ years of working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams experience

  • 7+ years of team management experience

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Experience defining program requirements and using data and metrics to determine improvements

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience implementing repeatable processes and driving automation or standardization

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $121,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $225,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
