Serves as a JAIC's Technical Expert and Advisor for all artificial intelligence and machine learning technology systems, processes, software design and development projects and initiatives. 2. Leverages commercial industry expertise to serve as the technical authority for the development and delivery of artificial intelligence and machine learning technology solutions for operational users. 3. Provides advisement and consultation on the JAIC's artificial intelligence and machine learning strategy for technology platforms, partnerships and external relationships. 4. Applies extensive knowledge of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data science concepts, methodology, and techniques to design and enhance the design of existing technical specifications that need to be deployed for artificial intelligence and machine learning technology solutions. 5. Provides consultation and advisement on the development, engineering, and integration of artificial intelligence and machine learning-based technological capabilities. 6. Provide expertise in the implementation and engineering support of artificial intelligence and machine learning systems to include solving relevant technical and programmatic problems and assessing the technical feasibility of commercial solutions. 7. Collaborates with other Technical Experts across the Department and the JAIC to identify new mission-focused problems that can be solved with artificial intelligence and machine learning capabilities. 8. Leverages best practice research to develop and recommend artificial intelligence and machine learning technology solutions and business cases. 9. Provides technical expertise to assist DoD and JAIC stakeholders with applying the operational value and outcomes of artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies across their organizations. 10. Performs other duties as may be assigned by the JAIC Deputy Director. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below. Basic Requirements: For the AD-801 and AD-854 Professional Engineering Series: Degree: professional engineering. To be acceptable, the curriculum must: (1) be in a school of engineering with at least one curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) as a professional engineering curriculum; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statistics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. OR Combination of education and experience -- college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying professional engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering. The adequacy of such background must be demonstrated by one of the following: - Professional registration - Written Test - Specified academic courses - Related curriculum - With this criteria, applicants also need verification of employment from a supervisor stating you have performed professional engineering duties. For more detailed information on the above criteria, please go to the Qualification Standards For the AD-1515 Operations Research Series: Degree: in operations research; or at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus. For the AD-1529 Computer Science Series: Degree: that included 24 semester hours of mathematics and statistics, of which at least 12 semester hours were in mathematics and 6 semester hours were in statistics. OR Combination of education and experience -- at least 24 semester hours of mathematics and statistics, including at least 12 hours in mathematics and 6 hours in statistics, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. For the AD-1550 Computer Science Series: Bachelor's degree in computer science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions. Minimum Qualifications: To meet the minimum qualification requirements for this position, you must show in your resume that you possess Technical Qualifications (TQs) and other qualifications, if applicable, listed below. TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS: All applicants must submit written statements (narrative format), in addition to your resume, of accomplishments that would satisfy the technical qualifications. Specify which TQs you are addressing in your responses: TQ 1: Commercial industry experience in developing Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning technology strategies and solutions for the Federal government; a state or local government; or a large corporation. TQ 2: Extensive knowledge of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data science concepts, methodology, techniques, and technologies. TQ 3: Significant experience working on enterprise artificial intelligence and machine learning initiatives as the Chief Technology Officer, Lead Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning Scientist or Engineer. TQ 4: Experience defining and developing new artificial intelligence and machine learning technology solution and tool. Education There is no substitution of education for experience at this grade level.
