CENTRA Technology Flight Mechanics / Flight Controls Engineer in Arlington, Virginia

CENTRA Technology, Inc. is a leading provider of engineering, scientific, and program management support services to the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). We are at the forefront of breakthrough technology development and demonstration programs in multiple areas, including hypersonics, autonomous systems, advanced sensors, propulsion, aircraft and space systems. We are currently seeking talented, enthusiastic, and dynamic individuals to support DARPA in formulating, coordinating, monitoring, and transitioning advanced research and development programs to the U.S. military.

CENTRA Technology, Inc. has an immediate opening for a Flight Mechanics/Flight Controls Engineer to provide technical and programmatic oversight of various research and development projects for DARPA. Candidates will work closely with DARPA Program Office, as well as high level personnel throughout the government and also with industry research and development communities. Applicants must be technically strong and possess superior oral and written communications skills. Candidates should be self-starters capable of working both independently and as part of an integrated product team. Some travel is required.

Must have U.S. Government Secret CLEARANCE to be considered

Technical and management responsibilities may include :

  • Providing technical support and subject matter expertise in monitoring the execution of advanced technology development and demonstration programs.

  • Performing independent technical assessments and feasibility analyses of new technologies and system designs.

  • Attending, monitoring, and reporting on system field testing and demonstrations.

  • Supporting technical interchange meetings and design reviews.

  • Developing and running simulation models.

  • Identifying and implementing new program concepts.

  • Providing program management and acquisition support.

  • Authoring program status briefings and technical reports.

    Technical Qualifications Required:

  • Minimum of a BS. in Engineering with at least 10 years of experience with flight mechanics design experience

  • Platform concept development, requirements definition, and program support

  • Trajectory and performance optimization

  • Emphasis on flight dynamics and controls

  • Guidance and relative navigation for air platforms.

  • Programming skills include Matlab /Simulink and a high-level language such as C++.

  • Experience with POST or OTIS, Missile DATCOM, and/or STK is beneficial.

  • Aircraft platform software development process including scrum master experience is a plus.
