Amazon Finance Manager, WW Grocery Stores FP&A in Arlington, Virginia

The WW Grocery Stores FP&A organization is dedicated to working closely with our leadership teams, including Whole Foods Market, Fresh, and Go, to formulate the medium and long term financial and strategic plans for grocery, omni-channel and new physical store formats across Amazon. We seek to increase efficiency and profitability by analyzing financial and operational results/plans to better understand business performance and communicate it to senior management.

We are seeking a Finance Manager to join our team! This role directly supports the senior leadership team within WW Grocery Stores and will have broad responsibilities, including supporting Whole Foods Market, Fresh, and Go on planning cycles and various confidential projects. This role partners regularly with a broad range of finance and business leaders across our organization, often at some of the most senior levels within the company. The leader must be effective at working through teams across the WW Grocery Stores organization to consolidate and articulate the overall drivers of current and future performance. That means the leader is good at stitching together multiple inputs to tell an accurate and insightful story of what’s happening. Everyone on the team needs to be entrepreneurial, wear many hats, and work in a highly collaborative environment that’s more start-up than big company. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are critical in this role. The successful candidate has demonstrated the following abilities: they are a self-starter, they collaborate and influence business partners, support thoughtful decision-making in a rapidly-evolving and ambiguous environment and think long-term.

Key job responsibilities

  • Partner with Whole Foods Market, Fresh, and Go FP&A teams to consolidate WW-level plans.

  • Support WW Amazon Stores Finance (IPAT) and Corporate FP&A to communicate WW Grocery Stores plans Amazon's top leadership.

  • Work cross functionally with finance teams and senior leadership on forecasting and ad-hoc analysis.

  • Communicate financial and business results and plans, including variance analyses to senior leaders.

  • With Controllership as the top priority, you identify, resolve, or provide guidance to resolve complex data integrity issues. You improve controls to address financial risk and support frugality.

  • Create an environment that facilitates the development of challenging goals, business plans and financial plans and then help the business achieve these results.

  • Simplifying and automating planning tools and process across WW Grocery Stores.

  • Continue developing the team’s vision and build the team through hiring and providing direction and mentoring to Finance team members. Establish a positive team culture and develop top talent.

Basic Qualifications

  • 4+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or a related analytical field (e.g., engineering, math, computer science)

  • 4+ years of building financial and operational reports/data sets that inform business decision-making experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • 4+ years of identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan experience

  • 4+ years of solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits) experience

  • Experience applying key financial performance indicators (KPIs) to analyses

  • Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)

  • Experience delivering forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, and data interpretation of results

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $85,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $179,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
