Amazon Finance Manager, Delivery Service Partner Finance in Arlington, Virginia

Description

Amazon's "Last Mile" Delivery Service Partner (DSP) program is responsible for delivering packages (and smiles) to households/businesses across the planet. Our Finance team closely partners to support this rapidly expanding business while building a portfolio of delivery stations, vans, and technology to deliver customers' packages on time - often next day, sometimes faster. We augment our traditional "deliver by van" with other models including Amazon Flex (gig economy drivers), Amazon Lockers, and more - all designed to deliver smiles to our customers.

Our Finance teams partner closely with our operations teams to influence the strategic direction of the business, drive operations excellence, and make sound investment and expansion decisions, with the primary goal of continuously improving the customer experience while driving long-term profitability for our portfolio of businesses. Our teams experiment, fail fast, learn, and scale rapidly, and we have a culture of data-driven decision-making.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following abilities: They influence business owners, effectively lead meetings with senior leaders, support thoughtful decision-making through data, and adapt to a rapidly-evolving environment. This individual will also play a key role in decision making and developing financial insights as part of monthly and quarterly business reviews.

Key job responsibilities

  • Delivers weekly/monthly financial close including performing Accounting-related activities. Uses financial systems and advanced MS Excel and SQL functions/other data analytics to work with large data sets.

  • Design and implement financial operating processes that enable program scalability and automation. Improves, scales, and/or simplifies finance tools. Use solid financial knowledge and business acumen to interpret data and make recommendations that deliver results.

  • Creates Plans and Forecasts plus prepares P&L including preparation of commentary on results.

  • Creates effective business partnerships and manages competing priorities.

  • Communicates data, both written and verbal, in a clear and concise, manner. Adjusts style for various audiences.

  • Identifies basic control risks & defects, evaluates impact, proposes changes, and implements improvements to remediate gaps

  • Makes thoughtful time management decisions independently. Prioritizes work, resolves issues, meets deadlines, and seeks feedback from your manager. Discerns between urgent and non-urgent issues and acts accordingly to solve them.

  • Contributes to work life harmony by being a positive, collaborative, and effective influence to new team members as an indicator of operations excellence.

Basic Qualifications

  • BA or BS in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a highly analytical field (e.g., Engineering, Math, Computer Science)

  • 5+ years of finance experience, or Master’s degree and 3+ years of finance experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • 6+ years of identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan experience

  • 6+ years of solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits) experience

  • MBA, or CPA

  • Knowledge of SQL/ETL

  • Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)

  • Experience delivering forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, and data interpretation of results

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $81,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $179,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
