DDG 51 Hull Support Engineering Associate

The Opportunity:

This position will support the US Navy DDG 51 Class Shipbuilding Post Delivery Hull Management (PDHM) requiring strong analytical and management skills to properly verify and track shipbuilding work items in spreadsheets and databases for new construction Destroyers.

The selected candidate for hire will...

  • Conduct research and ship checks to validate planned work package scope.

  • Participate in at-sea Final Contract Trials (FCTs) and planning conferences to assist in the development of Post Shakedown Availability Work Packages (PSAWP).

  • Review and update descriptions on PSAWPs

  • Track and manage work items within the PSAWPs.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates and participates in PSA planning conferences/planning reviews. Develops planning conference meeting minutes.

  • Creates and distributes PSA tasking planning letters for the client.

  • Participates in FCT trial card screening conferences

  • Maintains sufficient records for each DDG 51 hull in databases

  • Provides Independent Government Estimates for new Post Delivery engineering changes and Additional Work Items (AWIs) to be accomplished during PSA on future hulls.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Active DoD Secret-level security clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain one. (US Citizenship is required in order to obtain a security clearance from the DoD.)

  • BS or equivalent and up to three years’ experience.

  • Prior experience with ships is preferred.

  • Travel will be required at least 25% of the time and candidate must have the ability to work in an industrial environment and be physically capable to climb ladders to move between a DDG Class ship’s compartments and participate in at-sea ship trials.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Ability to write detailed meeting minutes, develop briefings, and other required reports.

  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively individually and in a team environment.

Desired:

  • BS degree in Engineering and three or more years’ experience.

Pay Range : There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications. The proposed salary range for this position is:

$55,500 - $111,100
