System One Azure Operations Engineer in Arlington, Virginia

AZURE OPERATIONS ENGINEER

Location: US-Remote

Public Trust Clearance. US citizenship required

Certifications: Relevant Azure certifications (e.g., Azure Administrator Associate, Azure DevOps Engineer Expert) are highly desirable.

ALTA IT Services has a contract-to-hire opening for a skilled and experienced Azure Operations Engineer to support a financial services program that supports classified and unclassified environments. This role requires US citizenship and a Public Trust clearance.

The Azure Operations Engineer will provide exceptional support for Azure resources, including both Platform as a Service (PaaS) and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) components. This position demands a proactive approach to troubleshooting environment and application-level issues, ensuring high availability and performance of our services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support for Azure resources, focusing on PaaS and IaaS components, to ensure optimal performance and reliability.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve environment and application-level issues in a timely and effective manner.

  • Work with Azure Kubernetes Services (AKS), Container Registry, App Service, Function Apps, Load Balancer, Application Gateway, Traffic Manager, Azure Front Door, Azure Databricks, Storage Accounts, and Azure Data Factory.

  • Manage and maintain virtual machines (VMs), including both Linux and Windows environments.

  • Utilize automation tools such as PowerShell and Azure CLI to streamline operations and deployment processes. Experience with Terraform for infrastructure as code is a must.

  • Implement and maintain logging and monitoring solutions, with knowledge of tools like Splunk, Dynatrace, and System Center Operations Manager (SCOM) being highly desirable.

  • Expertise in using Azure Recovery Services Vault and Azure Backup for backing up VMs and Storage Accounts, and experience with performing VM and file restores.

    Required Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience in managing and supporting Azure PaaS and IaaS resources, with a strong understanding of Azure services such as AKS, App Service, Load Balancer, Application Gateway, and others.

  • Experience with containerization technologies and services, including AKS and Azure Container Registry.

  • Proficiency in automation scripting using PowerShell and Azure CLI; experience with Terraform is a must.

  • Strong background in managing Linux and Windows VMs in a cloud environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex environment and application issues, with a creative and analytical approach to problem-solving.

  • Familiarity with logging and monitoring tools like Splunk, Dynatrace, and SCOM.

  • Experience with Azure Recovery Services Vault and Azure Backup, including the execution of backups and the restoration of VMs and files.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

  • Highly responsive and adaptable, with the capability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

    EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred.

    HOURLY RATE: $55/hr.
