Job Summary

The purpose of this role is to recruit students for undergraduate programs currently offered by a college. The role is involved in the development of recruitment strategy, planning, and execution of student engagement activities. May supervise student ambassadors and/or other staff roles. This role will also develop metrics to measure success of recruiting and communication strategies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • In collaboration with the Director, develop, implement, and manage the recruitment strategies for the college’s undergraduate programs (on and off campus) to prospective students, businesses, community colleges, high schools, and other organizations in connection with recruitment of students.

  • Create an effective communication and marketing strategy to encourage prospective students to select the college; this may entail mailings, phone campaigns, electronic communications, college/high school visits, information sessions and other special events.

  • Attend recruitment fairs and conferences to establish relationships with colleges/universities. Develop/monitor metrics to measure success of program strategies and adjust as needed.

  • Recruit, supervise, and develop staff/student ambassadors to assist with recruiting activities and events. Review and approve ambassador social media posts in coordination with the college’s social media campaign.

  • Act as a community liaison between local public schools and the college to coordinate group tours and presentations; communicate admissions requirements to potential students.

  • Responsible for event management to increase awareness of college services to create a better prospective student experience.

  • Interact with high potential candidates to facilitate meetings with appropriate campus personnel to generate a positive admission response.

  • Assist with the application and admission process for prospective students. Keep applicants informed of their status during the admissions process.

  • Follow-up with newly admitted students to determine progress towards meeting the conditions of admission.

  • Collect, maintain, and distribute to college leadership statistical data on applicants, newly admitted students, enrolled students, retention, and graduation for each respective program.

  • Analyze projections for future semesters and develop strategies to increase admissions.

  • Performs other duties assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with three (3) years of experience in student recruitment, admissions, or student affairs or seven (7) years of relevant work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree preferred. Marketing experience also helpful.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Solid verbal and written communication skills; exemplary oral presentation skills.

  • Solid interpersonal skills for effectively relating to potential applicants, students, faculty, and outside contacts.

  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision and guidance upon completion of training.

  • Attention to detail, listening and time management skills,

  • Proficient with MicroSoft Office suite and database management programs.

  • Familiarity with social media platforms.

  • Must be willing and able to travel by plane and/or automobile to conduct recruitment business.

  • Occasional weekend and evening projects.

  • Should possess a good understanding of higher education and issues related to student affairs.

  • The employee must be able to speak clearly and hear effectively.

  • The employee is regularly required to sit, and reach with hands and arms, and often required to stand, walk, and stoop.

  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, and peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus.
