Endoscopic Technician - PRN - GI Lab - Days

We’re looking for qualified Endoscopic Technicians like you to join our Texas Health family.

Working Hours: PRN Days with Evening, Weekend and Holiday call

Position Highlights

  • Work location: 800 West Randol Mill Road, Arlington, TX 76012

  • Work environment: Gastrointestinal Laboratory

  • Work hours: PRN, Days with evening, holiday, and weekend call required.

Qualifications

Education

High school diploma or equivalent required

Experience

One (1) year GI clinical or hospital experience preferred

Licenses and Certifications

CNA - Certified Nurses Aide upon hire preferred or

MA - Medical Assistant upon hire preferred or

EMT - Emergency Medical Technician upon hire preferred and

BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support (prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required)

Detailed oriented, good organizational skills

Position Responsibilities

Assists physicians and nurses with GI procedures

  • Sets up endoscopic equipment including specific individualized equipment after assessment of patient.

  • Assists physicians and RNs throughout procedures

  • Handles instrumentation from basic to complex procedures.

  • Takes actions to reduce or eliminate patient risk

Professional Accountability

  • Follows policies, protocols, and guidelines set forth by THR.

  • Communicates all ethical and legal concerns through the established chain of command.

  • Initiates actions to protect patient rights and/or preferences.

  • Attends 80% of all staff meetings or 100% of all staff meeting minutes are read.

  • Attends training and educational opportunities made available to the GI Lab staff.

  • Completes training modules on a timely basis.

  • Communicates with the manager or educator for unit if any delay or problems exist.

Teamwork/Partnership

  • Demonstrates teamwork and partnership in delivering care in the GI Lab.

  • Shares knowledge/advanced skills with co-workers to enhance efficiency of procedures.

  • Is flexible in regards to schedule and requirements needed for function of the Unit.

  • Works with on-call team to finish call cases in most efficient, safe, manner possible.

Infection Control / Safety Measures

  • Follows all safety measures/infection control measures throughout duties assigned.

  • Assists with identification of patient

  • Participates in Time-Out process

  • Washes hands

  • Operates automatic scope washers and understands the principles of high level disinfection.

  • Cleans scopes manually according to guidelines set forth per manufacturer.

  • Understands the principles of cleaning the scopes manually

  • Keeps proper records and documents accordingly in daily logs in scope processing room.

  • Reports any problems or concerns with scopes or scope washers.

Age Specific/Developmental Guidelines

  • Performs duties using developmental considerations for age specific to GI Lab.
