  • Core work hours: Monday-Friday 8:00a – 5:00p Position Summary Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer (SVP and CCO), the Director, Compliance and Privacy (Director) will lead, as a primary responsible, the operational aspects of Texas Health Resources' (THR) wholly owned hospital-based, urgent care and virtual care compliance and privacy programs and manage the associated compliance and privacy officers/Program Directors, Compliance and Privacy (ECPO).This role will work closely with system compliance, hospital, and system services leadership as well as the positions counterparts at Texas Health Physicians Group and Texas Health Partners. In this role, the Director will be a key member of the System Compliance leadership team and be part of leading and overseeing functions and initiatives related to the System Compliance operations, workplan and strategic objectives.

Job Description

Responsible for hospital compliance and privacy program core processes including:

Oversee and develop compliance and privacy programs in line with regulatory standards and best practices.

Oversee ECPOs activities, monitor performance in accordance with dashboards, development and completion of annual work plans, and responsiveness to compliance and privacy program activities.

Manages ECPOs to include orientation, development, and evaluation, and monitoring the provision of delivering quality services to stakeholders, assigned hospitals and consumers.

Participates in the recruiting, interviewing, and education programs for ECPOs.

Effectively communicates departmental, organizational, and industry information to ECPOs.

Provides interim coverage for or manages ECPO hospital vacancies.

Conducts reviews of hospital compliance and privacy programs to ensure compliance with current and upcoming regulatory requirements and best practices.

Leads and provides oversight for System Compliance annual assessments (including development of annual hospital compliance and privacy work planning process and coordination with System Compliance annual workplan; annual risk assessment, mitigation plans and risk monitoring; and annual compliance maturity assessment and ongoing monitoring of compliance capabilities and growth initiatives). 20%

Develops and implements short and long-term strategic hospital compliance plan for continuous growth and improvement in line with System Compliance, hospital and organizational plans, goals, and key performance indicators.

Oversee investigations of potential compliance concerns, conduct root cause analysis of potential compliance control breakdowns, and oversee corrective actions; coordinate with SVP and CCO and legal counsel, as necessary, with respect to significant or high-impact investigations.

Oversee compliance monitoring activities in coordination with other risk assurance departments throughout the organization.

Serves as compliance lead and/or member on system level workgroups, including Enterprise Risk Management Capabilities, Business Ethics Council, and System Compliance Council.

Works with the SVP and CCO to respond and coordinate audit activities performed by outside agencies, regulators, and audit functions. Works with other departments to ensure appropriate response to requests and findings.

Provides consultative services to hospitals, System Compliance department and others throughout the organization.

Responsible for leading various department initiatives and workgroups associated with System Compliance strategic goals and objectives.

Undertake special projects and support other compliance and risk management initiatives as needed.

Education

Master's Degree Healthcare, Business, or Other Applicable Field Required

Experience

10 Years healthcare compliance and privacy experience with escalating responsibility and experience Required

Significant compliance and privacy orientation, coupled with business process expertise Required

Supervisory experience in a compliance role Required

Including Management of Compliance and privacy Personnel, Projects, and Programs

Multi Hospital Health System Compliance Experience Strongly Preferred

Licenses and Certifications

CHC - Certified in Healthcare Compliance Upon Hire Required

Or

CCEP - Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional Upon Hire Required

Skills

Demonstrated ability to lead, manage and facilitate change; demonstrated vision to define and effectively manage strategies, change structures, and change processes necessary to address program priorities.
