Job Summary

The Associate Athletic Director for Facilities and Game Operations oversees all athletic facility management and event operations, ensures venue readiness, supervises staff, and manages game day logistics. The position also focuses on building external partnerships to generate revenue through third-party events and plays an active role in departmental strategy as a member of the UTA Impact Team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise a team of full-time and part-time employees responsible for facilities operations, game-day management, and athletic field maintenance, ensuring optimal performance and staff development.

  • Lead the planning, setup, and execution of athletic events, including practices, games, and special events, while serving as the primary liaison between sport coaches, administrators, and facilities staff. Serve as primary contact for post-season event bids.

  • Oversee game-day operations including the hiring, training, assignments, and accountability for game day support staff; ensuring compliance with NCAA, Conference, and University rules; managing crowd control, security, guest services, and emergency protocols; serve as the liaison to game officials, ensuring all logistical needs are met.

  • Manage daily facility operations, including logistics preparation, repairs, access requests, and maintenance to keep athletic venues in peak condition. Work closely with campus partners and outside vendors to ensure the timely completion of projects and maintain high facility standards and security protocols.

  • Develop and implement plans for hosting multiple outside events and facility rentals, including pre-planning, budgets, and conducting analytical assessments of potential events and forecasts. Collaborate with the CFO to improve business practices and financial outcomes for these events.

  • Actively build and maintain strong relationships with external partners, identifying opportunities to drive revenue through third-party events and facility rentals. Engage in outreach and networking to secure business and establish long-term partnerships

  • Develop and monitor operating budgets for athletic facilities and events, ensuring all financial resources are managed effectively and within budgetary limits.

  • Participate as a Senior Staff member on the UTA Impact Team, contributing to strategic planning and decision-making for the department and University initiatives.

  • All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with three (3) to five (5) years of relevant experience; or any equal combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree

  • Seven (7) or more years of NCAA Division I athletic department experience in facility management and operations.

  • Two (2) or more years of supervisory experience.

  • Solid organizational and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to manage complex projects and multiple priorities.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Effective collaboration and interpersonal skills to work with various stakeholders at various levels.

  • Capacity for critical thinking and the ability to challenge assumptions and think creatively.
