Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will maintain a productive research agenda, pursue outside funding when appropriate, teach a 3-2 course load, contribute to curricular programs within the department and college, recruit and train exceptional students, and participate in university and professional affairs.
Required Qualifications
Ph.D. in History or related field (by time of appointment).
Geographical focus on the Mediterranean World, including North Africa, the Middle East, and/or Europe.
Demonstrated effectiveness in, or a strong preparation for, teaching courses in Ancient and Medieval history.
Demonstrated expertise in theories and tools of Digital Humanities.
Preferred Qualifications
Willingness to contribute to the Department’s current public-facing digital history projects or develop new ones.
Expertise in video game design and a willingness to help support a current university initiative in that field.
Demonstrated track record of securing grants or other outside funding and the ability to contribute to departmental and college strengths.

The Department of History and Geography ( https://www.uta.edu/academics/schools-colleges/liberal-arts/departments/history ) offers three bachelor’s degree plans, a minor in Geography, and numerous other minor options at the undergraduate level; at the graduate level, the Department offers M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in History, as well as a graduate certificate in Archival Administration. Along with offering core-compliant courses in geography and US history to students from across the University, we have about 300 majors and 60 graduate students. Our award-winning faculty offer courses in a rich array of specialties with particular strengths in the digital humanities, in the history of gender, race, slavery, and labor, in cultural history, in transnational history, and in the history of science and technology. The College of Liberal Arts is the largest in the University with twelve departments in the liberal arts, fine arts, humanities, and social sciences. It also houses the Disability Studies Program and the Gender, Women, and Sexuality Program, both of which offer minors and lively public-facing programming.
