United States Steel Sales Manager - Paint & Construction Products, BRS in Arkansas

Objective of the Job:

The position will manage the pricing, market and customer segmentation, facility loading, and product development targets for the industry segment. This position requires knowledge and reporting related to market analysis, internal pricing and costing, as well as competitor capabilities. Alignment with operational functional areas and sales to delivery of company objectives, including all growth initiatives and capability adjustments, is critical in this position. Ensuring on-time in-full order fulfillment for customers and optimizing facility loading volumes based on forecast to shipment plans is expected. This includes identifying and driving profitability through grade and size mix, based on key company and market indicators and contract performance analytics.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1) Understanding Health, Safety, Environmental, ResponsibleSteel and Quality programs while developing or executing strategies to address issues and how they can be integrated into the business plan.

2) Knowledge of ResponsibleSteel requirements for reduction of environmental impacts and energy reduction, concerns for local communities and stakeholders, and/or preservation of diversity.

3) Develops product and branding strategies, customer plans and administrative responsibilities to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction is maintained

4) Develops and maintains relationships at all levels within the customer organization (purchasing, engineers, research and technology experts, business managers and senior management)

5) Manages contract and spot negotiations, and develops plans to satisfy contractual obligations

6) Assists with monthly planning and forecasting; assists with the training of team members as needed

7) Communicates line availabilities and lead times; recommends pricing guidelines and inventory stocking opportunities, for applicable products

8) Develops the mini-mill segment strategy for Painted & Construction Products sales; manages product mix and throughput in relation to profitability targets

9) Maintains tables for paint systems and work with operations to consolidate primers and backers to achieve cost reductions, reduce working capital and enhance productivity

10) Keeps informed of and reports on new products, market dynamics and competitive landscape to develop methods to attain and retain customers; promotes BRS capabilities and unique benefits in the market

11) Strategically develops and maintains sales volume, product mix, and selling price by keeping current with supply and demand, changing trends, economic indicators, and competitor

12) Provide strategic focus on on-time delivery, particularly for key OEM accounts. For periods of robust demand this involves making recommendations of order entry guidelines by customer (based upon mutually agreed to criteria)

13) Fosters and develops BRS team collaboration and training; ensures the delivery of the highest level of customer service to our customers

14) Works closely with Quality Assurance, Product Development, Customer Technical Service, Logistics, Finance, and Operations and Planning, to resolve issues

Qualifications:

1) Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering/technology or a closely related field

2) 7+ years of experience in North American steel sales, preferably Painted and/or Construction Products

3) Proven record of accomplishments in sales, building and maintaining positive customer relationships, start-up experience and self-starter is preferred.

4) Demonstrated ability to help build, develop, and mentor a team is desirable.

5) Ability to travel up to 50% within North America; International travel could also be needed

6) Effectively interpret and make business decisions using financial information

7) Demonstrated ability to proactively and positively accomplish multiple tasks simultaneously

8) Ability to work in a self-directed fashion, drive, initiative, self-starter

9) Effectively lead others in a collaborative environment and drive results

10) Proficient in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite

11) Proficient experience with ERP systems; the ability to quickly learn new systems and software

12) Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with key functional groups; interact in a constructive manner

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

This position is remote. Independent travel to customers and the mill is expected. Timely after-hours and weekend support coverage is required. Must maintain a professional appearance, demeanor, and be adept in both electronic and verbal communications. This position requires a flexible schedule. Hours could include overtime, nights and weekends as well as travel with little or no advance notice.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position could supervise others.
