Overview
POSITION SUMMARY:To operate and maintain the wastewater treatment plant.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Adheres to safety, food safety, quality and legal compliance.
Perform all work in accordance with environmental, health and safety standards, rules, regulations and practices of the facility.
Must be able to pass training/certifications as required for qualifications.
Must work towards Class III Wastewater Certification within 2 years.
Must be able to communicate and follow verbal and written instructions.
Must be able to learn and operate all wastewater processing equipment.
Must be able to learn minor wastewater laboratory and testing procedures.
Must be able to learn and understand the effects of wastewater operations to our manufacturing facility, environment and water supply.
Must be able to control and clean up spills on the yard.
Must be able to understand and support the recycling and sustainability efforts of the facility.
Document completed work as required by the supervisor.
Compliance with all other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- None.PHYSICAL AND VISUAL ACTIVITIES:
Physically able to turn valves, install pumps and hoses.
Ability to take water samples and perform basic laboratory functions.
Must be able to lift and move supplies for the wastewater treatment facility.
Ability to visually differentiate items of color, up close and in the distance.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to wear personal protective equipment and/or clothing.
Stand/walk 7 or more hours per day.
Frequently talk/hear and taste/smell.
Occasionally squat, bend, reach, twist/turn, grip/grasp, and climb.
Occasionally use eye/hand and eye/hand/foot coordination.
Occasionally handle/finger and use fine motor tasks.
Occasionally lift up to 5 lbs from floor to shoulder and carry 100 feet.
Occasionally lift up to 25 lbs from floor to shoulder and carry 25 feet.
Occasionally lift up to 50 lbs from floor to shoulder and carry 10 feet.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and color vision.
ENVIRONMENTAL/ATMOSPHERIC CONDITIONS:
Constantly work in damp, wet, humid, and slippery environments.
Constantly work in extreme heat/cold (primarily outdoors).
Frequently work near moving machinery with fumes or airborne debris.
Frequently work with toxic or caustic chemicals.
Constantly work in high noise levels requiring hearing protection.
Occasionally work in high places.
MACHINES/TOOLS/EQUIPMENT/SOFTWARE
Bump cap, hair net, safety glasses, hearing protection, and uniform.
Valves, pumps and hoses.
Qualifications
REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or GED.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to write simple correspondence.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one small group situations to customers, clients, and other team members of the organization.
Ability to use effective problem solving skills.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to use mathematical functions including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division in accordance with operational paperwork.
Ability to perform these operations using units of weight measurement, volume, and distance.
