Dairy Environmental Systems ExpertThe target location for this role is Land O'Lakes Corporate Headquarters in Arden Hills, MN, however this position can be remote (virtual) and located anywhere in the USAJob Summary:This position supports the development and implementation of Truterra's Dairy Sustainability Platform (Platform) including Scope 3 Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) greenhouse gas (GHG) quantification process (Scope 3 Process) and Truterra's On-farm LCA GHG Tool (On-farm Tool) and implementation of the dairy portion of Truterra's Climate Smart grant implementation, including training and on-farm assessments. The Platform components are the first in a series of best-in-class dairy environmental stewardship assessment/improvement guidance tools being developed for utilization by trained Truterra service providers to support Land O'Lakes Dairy Foods and other Truterra customers. This position provides tremendous growth opportunity for the right individual with a customer service mindset, a flexible, can-do attitude and willingness to take on a range of assignments, both independently and collaboratively with others that are also focused on achieving overall project goals and outcomes.Initial daily responsibilities of the Dairy Environmental Systems Expert will be to assist with manure system GHG assessment and intervention opportunities to support Truterra's $90M USDA Climate Smart Grant and carry out short-term and longer-term assignments that support the development, testing/evaluation, documentation, validation, and delivery of the four dairy farm cradle to farm gate environmental prints (Enteric, Feed, Manure, and Energy) across 12 US Dairy regions. Work also to include use of Scope 3 Process to conduct Scope 3 GHG assessments for Truterra customers. The ideal candidate will have practical dairy farm experience coupled with formal training and professional workplace experience that includes system analyses, analytical capacity, development and delivery of communication materials (i.e., Powerpoint slide decks, written documents for a range of audiences, summary charts) and knowledge of LCA procedures.Responsibilities:Core contributor to technical development and evolution of best-in-class methods to calculate GHG footprints using spreadsheets. Conduct on-farm assessments of manure management systems and whole farm footprints to support customer needs and USDA-Climate Smart grant deliverables. Recruit, train, and manage team of up to 3 Dairy Systems Specialists who will conduct on-farm assessments and training of processor staff to assist with conducting assessments efficiently Develop summary information from outcomes of the GHG accounting work. Develop and deliver training materials. Use Truterra Dairy Products to perform Scope 3 analysis for customers.
