Pilgrim’s wants YOU to join our TEAM as a PROCESS LEAD - BREEDER DEPT.! This position starts at

  • $21.97/hour – WITHOUT a current Class A CDL, PLUS a $3000 New Hire Bonus

  • Willing to obtain Class A CDL (commitment to work in and/or back-up a driving position for 2 years upon completion).

  • $26.85/hour, WITH a current Class A CDL, PLUS a $5000 New Hire Bonus

  • Valid Class A Driver’s license with up-to-date Medical Card.An acceptable driving record, according to Company Policy 622 is required and must be maintained, (Possession of single, valid operator’s license with appropriate vehicle classification for operators state of residence; no incident in prior 36 months in which the driver was found to be under the influence of alcohol or non-prescription drugs; no incident in prior 36 months of reckless/careless driving; no major driving violations)for Lockout/Tagout safety as well as other company safety programs and policies.

JOB SUMMARY : The Process Lead in our Breeder Dept. catches, vaccinates and moves chickens to meet company requirements. Provides sanitation of equipment and buildings as required. Also operates truck as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBIITIES INCLUDE the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Catches chickens and places pullets into coops or holds for vaccinators.May vaccinate as required.

  • Stacks coops on pallets and pushes pallets on track when required.

  • Assembles and disassembles track used in pullet moving.Includes repairing track, as necessary.

  • Assists in tarping truck during periods of inclement weather.

  • Sanitize buildings and equipment, as necessary.

  • Assists supervisor during moving and vaccination as directed.

  • Unload breeding stock in layer barns.

  • Operates breeder pullet trucks to and from contract growers in a safe and efficient manner.

  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner so that you work effectively and cooperatively with customers, clients, coworkers, and leadership team.

  • Vaccinates broilers and breeders according to schedule and established procedures, determining correct blood collections and labeling schedules.

  • Determines the correct vaccine and dosage to be administered to broiler birds and to pullets, considering pullet age.

  • Monitors vaccine inventory and ensures adequate supply to meet business needs.

  • Develops schedule for Vaccinators for the week and informs growers of vaccination dates and times.

  • Monitors vaccination equipment to ensure it is in good working order. Makes necessary repairs or orders parts as needed.

  • Communicates with Company Veterinarian on vaccinations and blood work.

  • All other duties as directed.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES :

  • High School GED Required

  • Some mechanical skill

  • Working ability to catch chickens and place in barns

  • Considerable ability to lift heavy objects up to approximately 80 - 100 pounds

  • Working ability to climb high structures without fear.

  • Considerable ability to work under dusty adverse conditions

  • Ability to perform Blood drawing procedure in compliance with Animal Welfare guidelines.

  • Ability to work in dusty environment with exposure to chemicals and temperature extremes.

  • Detail oriented and organizational skills required.

  • Good communication skills.

  • Working knowledge of driving and traffic rules – Class A CDL preferred or willing to obtain.
