Tool Room Engineer

Location: Manufacturing Facility, Apodaca, Mexico

We are seeking an experienced Tool Room Engineer to join our dynamic team at our Apodaca manufacturing facility. This role will be pivotal in managing and optimizing tooling performance, integrating new projects into production, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. As a technical leader, you will collaborate with various departments to resolve challenges that impact productivity, leveraging your expertise in tooling and manufacturing operations.

What You’ll Do:

  • Provide technical expertise to enhance tooling performance, improve manufacturing processes, and drive cost reduction activities while ensuring superior part quality.

  • Lead the development, optimization, and maintenance of tools, dies, and fixtures to meet production requirements.

  • Oversee tooling performance, including cycle times, process capabilities, and tooling history, to ensure efficient and precise production.

  • Translate design concepts into physical products, ensuring all tolerances, dimensions, and specifications are met.

  • Train and develop tool room technicians in preventive maintenance, repairs, and tool preparations.

  • Coordinate and revise mechanical drawings related to tooling, ensuring they align with production needs.

  • Manage tooling budgets, monitor performance, and optimize tool life through advanced materials and surface coatings.

  • Debug complex tooling issues and drive continuous improvement initiatives within the tool room.

  • Conduct tooling design reviews with Engineering, Operations, and Quality teams to ensure alignment and compliance with production goals.

  • Ensure proper system documentation in line with tooling acceptance requirements for release to operations.

  • Perform failure analysis based on data and push for continuous improvement and problem-solving.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field (Master’s Degree preferred).

  • Experience: Minimum of 5+ years in the mold making and tooling industry, with hands-on experience in tooling design and development.

  • Technical Skills: Strong knowledge in tooling, welding, CNC programming, and mechanical design. Desired familiarity with SolidWorks and AutoCAD.

  • Leadership: Proven experience leading and managing end-to-end tooling processes within manufacturing.

  • Communication: Fluent English skills (spoken and written), with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
