The Geel – Belgium site is the largest chemical production site for small molecule API (Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients) within the J&J Innovative Medicine supply chain. We ensure lifesaving medicines reach the patient, safely, optimally, competitively, always. Beside production of API's, the site has an important launch & grow mission for new pharmaceutical products. Within the Geel logistics and warehouse team, we are recruiting a Warehouse Supervisor (M/F/X) as a crucial member of our warehouse IN and OUT team.

Your function:

In this role you will be responsible for the operational inbound and outbound activities on the Geel site, including sampling and our tankfarm. You will balance out our available capacity (people and equipment) and set daily priorities where needed. You will manage and coach a team of highly skilled operators and make sure the department reaches its targets. You will report into the Logistics Lead IN and OUT and you will be part of a very dynamic and enthusiastic team. Key responsibilities:

  • You lead by example and will manage a team of 10 operators working in various shifts. You will be responsible for:

  • Coaching, developing and leading your team to create a culture of Safety, Quality & Compliance and Performance

  • Preparing and optimizing the weekly capacity planning (people and equipment)

  • Team management and development of each individual

  • Overseeing day to day operations ensuring KPI targets for your area are met

  • Creation and maintenance of procedures and work instructions in your area

  • You will be accountable for safety/quality metrics/investigations in your area

  • Lead daily TIER communication process in your area to optimize operational efficiency and ensure right level stakeholder and senior management communication

  • You will collaborate closely with supervisors in the other areas of the chemical warehouse to align staffing across the areas in line with shifting priorities

  • Lead process improvement initiatives linked to your area

  • Represent the department in x-functional teams in order to assess potential impact of site initiatives and provide valuable departmental insights

  • Support Health Authority inspections and audits

CGMP, EHS&S, EN LEAN

The work is carried out under strict cGMP conditions. The operator ensures a safe, healthy and sustainable working environment. The execution of tasks, the organization of the work and the continuous improvement of efficiency, effectiveness, quality and cGMP and EHSS compliance are supported by Lean techniques and concepts. The operator has good knowledge of cGMP, EHSS and Lean, at the level appropriate for this position, is trained in the internal procedures and always follows these, as well as other internal standards. The Associate Manufacturing Operator identifies shortcomings and opportunities for improvement. He/she occasionally carries out improvement initiatives that are practical in nature and do not require support from other departments.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required – Master degree is a plus

Experience and skills:

Required:

  • Experience ( 5 Y) in logistics, preferably in a large international organization

  • Previous people management experience

  • Strong communicator in Dutch and English language, both spoken and written to all levels in the organization

  • Experienced standard Microsoft applications user

  • Positive mindset

  • Ability to navigate a fast paced and dynamic environment Preferred:

  • SAP and/or MES user in previous employment

  • Experience with root cause problem solving tools

  • Basic knowledge of Dangerous Goods Regulations: ADR – IATA – IMDG

  • Familiar with GXP regulations and pharmaceutical industry. Other:

  • Knowledge of LEAN and Kanban;

  • Growth mindset, both in the work setting as in your personal development

  • Capable to facilitate discussions and workshops.
