This role is responsible for supporting worldwide research and development activities within J&J Innovative Medicine. You will support R&D Logistics as well as internal/external distribution partners on US and Global import/export compliance, shipment execution, process definition and documentation compliance.

To be successful, you will collaborate with other Logistics team members, the broader R&D and Clinical Supply Chain organization and cross-functional business partners (i.e. Global and Regional Trade Compliance, Environmental Health and Safety, Business Systems IT) in order to drive achievement of organizational objectives and metrics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead projects to develop and implement compliant export shipping processes for R&D noncommercial shipment flows. Define, track and monitor project activities to meet objectives.

  • Coordination with R&D functions and site shipping teams to help facilitate shipment requests

  • Coordination with shipping support staff to standardize collection of information, and processing of shipment requests

  • Identification and resolution of potential issues with collected information

  • Data entry into the trade export system module to facilitate export screening, classification, document generation, and recordkeeping.

  • Track and maintain metrics on process performance to identify trends and improvement opportunities

  • Support expansion of export shipping process to other global shipping lanes across R&D

  • Collaborate with the Global Trade Compliance organization and R&D team members to coordinate shipments and assist with questions and resolution of issues relating to global material transfer.

  • Develop processes and training pertaining to R&D import/export activities and their compliance.

  • Measure, monitor and continuously improve compliance and efficiency of Janssen R&D material transfers

  • Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with all groups impacting trade operations, external agencies, and partners

  • Guide import/export activities in line with business unit priorities and ensure high level of compliance with internal standards and external regulations.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s/university degree and 4 years of proven experience with trade concepts, distribution, transportation, and/or logistics experience is required. Experience with pharma industry, biologics, chemistry is preferred.

Experience and Skills:

Required:

The role requires an individual with effective leadership and interpersonal skills with a proven track record of developing partnerships with key business collaborators to identify and deliver logistics and compliance solutions.

The individual should act with integrity, be solution and results oriented and possess the ability to work in a global and fast paced environment, both independently and collaboratively.

  • English is required. Additional languages including Dutch is an advantage

  • Requires MS Office proficiency, specifically sophisticated Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills

  • Business applications experience, such as SharePoint, SAP, Ariba, E2Open Trade Automation platforms is helpful.
