What You’ll Do

  • Safely guide children and pedestrians across designated intersections or crosswalks.

  • Monitor traffic flow and signal pedestrians to cross when it is safe.

  • Use hand signals, stop paddles, and verbal commands to direct traffic when necessary.

  • Enforce compliance with traffic and safety regulations.

  • Report traffic violations and safety concerns to local law enforcement or school authorities.

  • Assist pedestrians during adverse weather conditions or hazardous situations.

  • Maintain a courteous and professional demeanor with students, parents, and drivers.

  • Participate in training sessions and meetings to stay updated on safety protocols.

  • Collaborate with school officials and local authorities to promote traffic safety awareness.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What You Need to Know

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a crossing guard or in a related field is advantageous.

  • Ability and willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and remain alert and attentive during duty hours.

  • Adhere to all regulatory, company and departmental policies and procedures.

  • Reliable and punctual with a commitment to ensuring the safety of children and pedestrians.

  • Understanding of traffic laws and safety regulations.

  • Successfully pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check and drug test. These checks include a criminal check and a sex offender registry check.
