Your Opportunity
The brand team is currently working through a refreshed strategy, architecture, and identity for the Pearson brand. We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Freelance Graphic Designer to serve as a brand steward, ensuring the integrity and consistency of our new branding system across all touchpoints. Reporting directly to the Creative Director, this role is pivotal in upholding the highest standards of design and maintaining a cohesive brand identity. The ideal candidate will have a passion for great design, a strong understanding of brand systems, and a meticulous approach to execution across both print and digital platforms.
Key Responsibilities
Brand Stewardship
Act as a primary gatekeeper of the new branding system, ensuring all designs adhere to established guidelines and standards.
Provide guidance and support to internal teams and external partners on proper use of brand assets.
Regularly audit brand applications to identify and correct inconsistencies or misapplications.
Design Execution
Design and deliver high-quality visual assets for both print and digital platforms, including but not limited to: marketing materials, presentations, advertisements, and website elements.
Create templates and update toolkits to streamline brand application for internal teams.
Collaborate with the Creative Director to conceptualize and execute new design initiatives that align with the holistic brand vision.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with internal departments, such as marketing, sales, and product teams, to ensure brand consistency in all projects.
Review and provide constructive feedback on designs produced by other team members or external vendors to ensure alignment with brand standards.
Asset Management
Maintain and organize the brand asset library, ensuring all files are up-to-date, accessible, and easy to use.
Update and expand brand guidelines as needed, reflecting any new brand elements or refinements.
Innovation & Quality Assurance
Stay informed about design trends and innovations to continuously elevate the brand's creative output.
Conduct quality checks on all deliverables to ensure they meet the highest standards of craftsmanship and brand integrity.
Brand Advocacy & Education
Actively promote and educate internal teams and external partners on the new branding system, ensuring widespread understanding and adoption.
Partner with the Brand Manager in helping support developing training materials, presentations, and workshops to help teams effectively implement brand guidelines.
Serve as a point of contact for brand-related inquiries, providing guidance and clarification as needed.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or a related field.
3+ years of professional graphic design experience, preferably with a focus on branding.
Expert proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) as well as Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word)
Strong portfolio showcasing a range of branding and design projects across print and digital media.
Deep understanding of branding systems, typography, color theory, and layout principles.
Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to design excellence.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to present ideas clearly and effectively.
Experience working with brand guidelines and ensuring consistency across diverse applications.

What to expect from Pearson
Compensation at Pearson is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific location. As required by the California, Colorado, Hawaii, Maryland, New York State, New York City, Washington State, and Washington DC laws, the pay range for this position is as follows:
The full-time salary for this role is $75,000.
