Job Summary
The Volunteer Engagement Coordinator (Alumni Relations Officer Associate) supports programs and outreach that engage alumni and student volunteers throughout the Michigan Law community. The role is involved in all aspects of the volunteer lifecycle, including but not limited to volunteer identification, recruitment, onboarding and training, committee management, recognition/stewardship, and volunteer offboarding. Special focus will be directed toward younger alumni and current students to build a culture of volunteerism. This position will be a member of the alumni engagement team and will report directly to the Director of Alumni Engagement while working closely with the annual giving and stewardship teams. Occasional travel and evening and weekend work is required.

Responsibilities*
Manage committee processes for reunions, including assigned class year, European Alumni Reunion, and Black Alumni Reunion planning committees.o Assist with committee recruitment o Review and update volunteer job descriptions, expectations, policies, and procedureso Manage regular committee outreach, meetings/conference calls, and fundraising/registration updateso Track volunteer engagement data o Create a positive volunteer experience for committee members
With the annual giving team, coordinate student volunteer opportunities, including recruitment and training
Serve as first point of contact for student organization alumni outreach initiatives, including fundraising
Work closely with finance team to track gifts received
Participate in regular meetings with student planners and relevant Law School departments, as needed
Strategize with the Director of Alumni Engagement to create and document best practices
Coordinate ongoing alumni volunteer engagement work though collaboration with Law School offices and student organizations and volunteer stewardship
Perform other duties as required or assigned
Required Qualifications*
Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
At least one year of experience in alumni relations, volunteer engagement/management, and/or annual giving committee work
Excellent project management skills and strong attention to detail
Ability to multi-task and to adapt according to changing priorities and deadlines
Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion
Excellent written and oral communications skills and strong interpersonal skills
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Technology proficiency, including knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database software
Desired Qualifications*
- Prior experience in a higher education environment
