Job Summary

Perform systems investigation of pathway interactions in cardiovascular phenotypes in animal models and patients. Develop and analyze systems physiology models to guide experimental design, test hypotheses, and perform precision phenotyping of cardiovascular function on patients.

Responsibilities*

  • Develop computational models of the mechanical function of the heart and vasculature to simulate fluid flow, fluid-structure interactions, and regulation via physiological mechanisms.

  • Perform computer simulations to analyze experimental data and test hypotheses

  • Write and apply computer codes to perform parametric and structural sensitivity analyses.

  • Write and apply computer codes to develop new ways to visualize and represent model simulations and data

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelor's Degree required. A degree of applied mathematics/engineering is desirable because they will construct new multiscale computational models to improve physiological understanding of how the cardiovascular system is regulated via mechanical, neural, and humoral mechanisms. Master's or Doctoral Degree preferred.

  • 5-6 years of related experience, i.e., published in a field of specialty and academic knowledge in a field or discipline.

  • The applicant will use multiscale systems engineering approaches to allow for quantitative descriptions of interconnected processes, which aid understanding of the mechanisms for the links between the processes that cannot be decoupled easily in experiments.

Work Schedule

M-F with some weekend work
