Summary
The Department of Emergency Medicine is searching for a highly-motivated research area specialist to join the Max Harry Weil institute for Critical Care Research and Innovation's clinical research team at the University Hospital. The Weil Institute (formerly MCIRCC) are transforming critical care through groundbreaking research. Our unique approach uses multidisciplinary team science, big data analytics, specialized funding sources, and tailored commercialization pathway plans to push research from the bench to real applications in patient care.
Responsibilities*
Responsibilities include leading and managing multiple study projects, in all aspects of clinical research including study planning, start up, IRB management, identifying study patients, consenting and enrolling participants, as well as data collection. The candidate will have oversight and mentorship over junior employees as well as oversight for clinical projects within the unit. The candidate will have the responsibility for ensuring that studies are completed within timelines. Primary activities and decision making will be performed independently affecting business operations to a substantial degree. Additionally, the candidate will be expected to meet with and work with study PIs, engineering teams, and study sponsors. The candidate will provide study oversight for multiple clinical research studies of varying complexity.
Required Qualifications*
Bachelor's degree in science or related scientific degree
At least 5 years of experience in clinical science or clinical research setting.
Prior experience managing IRB applications.
Excellent organizational and time management skills, good communication skills, the ability to work with minimal supervision, and strong enthusiasm for developing new skills and expertise.
Desired Qualifications*
Masters's degree in science or clinical research
8 years of experience in clinical science or clinical research setting.
Three years of experience managing IRB applications as well as previous supervision experience.
Work Schedule
Full time, Monday thru Friday.
Background Screening
Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act.
