Summary

TC Medical Specialties is seeking a full-time Patient Services Intermediate Referral Coordinator to provide patient coordination and scheduling support to the Interventional Pulmonary Program and other Pulmonary Services as needed. Responsibilities*

  • Exercise initiative, independent judgment, and a service-oriented attitude while scheduling patients for operative procedures within an ambulatory care setting.

  • Coordinate and schedule all appointments required for the patients to be seen in the clinic as well as relevant studies and tests as directed.

  • Reschedule clinic appointments that have been canceled/delayed.

  • Complete insurance authorizations and obtain insurance approvals for surgeries and diagnostic tests using established insurance company guidelines.

  • Complete management and handling of in-basket correspondence.

  • Perform other clinical duties as assigned including, but not limited to faxes, copying and scanning as needed.

  • Responsible for gathering outside records prior to patients scheduled clinic visit.

  • Manage Patient Education materials and update as needed based on feedback from patients, nursing, and physicians

  • Manage Scheduling Guidelines document and update as needed

  • Processing referrals using established insurance company guidelines and Payers at a Glance.

  • Monitor and review upcoming IP clinic appointments to ensure all records were received and all tested completed

  • Facilitating appointment scheduling for specialty services.

  • Providing relevant insurance information and updates to staff, providers and managers (e.g. managed care changes, terminated contracts).

  • Working closely with providers, clerical and clinical staff on referral processes to understand and proactively identify and resolve referral issues.

  • Assisting in developing new process and procedures.

  • Provide backup support to OR scheduler.

Required Qualifications*

  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • A minimum of 3 years of previous work experience working with the public.

  • Prior experience performing complex scheduling

  • Familiarity with obtaining medical records or professional medical billing

  • Demonstrated ability to interact with a diverse population

  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills

  • Demonstrated record of excellent attendance

  • Exhibits professional and positive image when interacting with patients, faculty, and staff

  • Able to handle multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment with accuracy

  • Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines

  • Demonstrated strong problem-solving skills

  • Demonstrated excellent customer service skills with the public

  • General office practice experience is required

  • Demonstrated excellent verbal and written skills

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to work well within a team

  • Ability to communicate effectively

  • Demonstrated active listening and information technology skills

Desired Qualifications*

  • EPIC/MiChart experience.

  • Experience working within a large, complex health care setting.

  • Prior experience performing complex scheduling.

  • Ability to understand medical documentation and general knowledge of medical terminology.

  • Knowledge of university policies & procedures.

Work Schedule

8:00 – 5:00 Monday - Friday

Background Screening
