Michigan Medicine Security Guest Services department is seeking to fill several Guest Services Specialist (GSS) Intermediate Supervisor positions. The Guest Services Intermediate Supervisor reports to the Guest Services Senior Supervisor, assisting with functions for the department.

These positions will work onsite in a professional workplace environment, including office settings and entry points to large public facing facilities.

Responsibilities*

  • You will be responsible for the management and professional development of a team of Guest Services Specialists. (Guest Services Specialists provide initial contact and screening to individuals entering multiple University of Michigan facilities. This is a service oriented position.).

  • You will provide guidance for Guest Services Specialists including but not limited to scheduling, employee payroll, performance management, and any other tasks that will help assure the Guest Services Specialists operate at a world class level.

  • You will ensure that those entering our facilities receive exceptional service.

  • You will be called upon to act as a liaison between the Security Department, Hospital Administration, other University Departments, police agencies, and fire departments.

  • This is a uniformed position that may be called upon to perform the duties of a Guest Services Specialists when needed. These duties include: screening visitors, creating IDs, performing health screenings, giving directions, looking up patient information, giving information, and contacting dispatch if problems arise.

  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications*

  • High school + 5 years relevant experience or; Associate degree +2 years relevant experience or Bachelor's degree in a related field and 1 year of relevant experience

  • Must be available to work flexible hours, with occasional overtime

  • Demonstrated ability fostering inclusive working environments

  • Ability to build respectful relationships with internal and external customers

  • Demonstrated ability working alone or with a team

Additional Information

All members of the DPSS team are considered Campus Security Authorities (CSAs) under The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act. As such, you are required to report offenses that come to your attention.
