Job Summary

The Office of Medical Student Education seeks a Project Coordinator to join our Evaluation & Assessment (E&A) unit. As a member of the E&A team, the incumbent will coordinate projects and processes related to assessment (e.g. online quizzes and exams), curriculum evaluation (e.g. course and teaching evaluations), program quality improvement, medical education scholarship, and the day-to-day administrative operations of the unit.

Responsibilities*

  • Provide project and administrative support to E&A unit operations, with a particular focus on the required medical student clinical clerkships and Branches (post-clerkship) phase of the curriculum. This will include transitional spaces and courses, such as Transition-to-Clerkships, Branch Launch, and the Residency Preparation courses.

  • Retrieve and organize evaluation and assessment information for inclusion in reports or presentation materials. Support unit business operations including calendar management, procurement, composing correspondence for committees/project groups for which the E&A unit has direct oversight, maintaining electronic file systems, interacting with faculty, students, and staff to trouble-shoot emerging issues.

  • Assist with online evaluation and assessment software to author, publish, and administer evaluations and examinations using content provided by faculty.

  • Assist with onsite proctoring of National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME) examinations and internal required clinical clerkship examinations [up to 5-in person days/month].

  • Assist E&A team members with troubleshooting technical issues, use of onsite help resources, and provision of scheduled on-call support of student testing.

  • Compose, edit, and process confidential correspondence following established procedures and regulations.

  • Coordinate and provide administrative support for OMSE office meetings.

  • Perform other project and administrative duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelor's Degree.

  • Strong computing skills with experience working and collaborating with colleagues using Microsoft Windows products.

  • Demonstrated organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills.

  • Passion for project details and ability to create/execute clarity of process.

  • Two-three years of experience performing original and complex administrative duties and coordinating multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and work with confidential material.

  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.

Desired Qualifications*

  • Experience with survey and examination software such as ExamSoft, Qualtrics, SurveyMonkey and/or Google Forms.

  • Experience working with higher-education faculty, staff, and students.

Work Locations

The Office of Medical Student Education is a hybrid work environment. This full-time position will be onsite 1-2 days/week and remote 3-4 days/week. Hybrid staff are provided with a laptop, monitor, and related accessories. Office equipment such as desk, chair, and printer are not provided for remote work. Staff must provide their own reliable internet connectivity. Basic supplies such as pens, paper, etc. are stocked at the business location and available for staff pick-up. This position may periodically move boxes/supplies weighing up to 20 pounds within campus buildings while observing proper safety techniques.

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
