Job Summary
In 2023 the President's Office established the Ethics, Integrity and Compliance Office (EICO). This newly formed office is currently seeking an experienced professional to support the work of the ethics, integrity and compliance officer. The EICO will help units coordinate ethics, integrity and compliance activities and offer guidance on compliance questions across the Ann Arbor, Dearborn and Flint campuses, as well as Michigan Medicine. We are seeking an experienced professional to design, develop, implement and promote awareness of the organization's business ethics policies. Important skills for this role include knowledge of best practices in ethics, integrity and compliance, knowledge of federal and state laws, regulations and guidelines governing ethics and compliance in institutions of higher education, strong analytical skills, experience supervising, mentoring and team building. The ideal candidate should also possess a demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple ongoing projects, meticulous attention to detail,strong verbal and written communication skills, sound judgment and problem solving skills.
You will report directly to and support the university's ethics, integrity and compliance officer, and will have independent responsibility for a significant volume and variety of high-level administrative functions and handling matters of a confidential and sensitive nature.
You will regularly interact with senior leaders and at times the president. Focused on providing excellent assistance to the ethics, integrity and compliance officer, the position's demands are variable in nature, type, and volume. The job responsibilities are shaped by the demands of the EICO activities which vary over time. This position will be primarily on-site in Ann Arbor with the opportunity for a hybrid schedule in accordance with operational needs. Work on evenings and weekends may occasionally be needed to accommodate the office schedule and events.
The salary range for this position is $120,000-$140,000. A higher salary may be possible for well-qualified applicants.

Responsibilities*
Designs, develops, implements and promotes awareness of the organization's legal requirements and business ethics policies
Plans, develops, and coordinates education and training programming, including content and delivery methods, for the educational programming and events for the EICO
Creates roll-out plans for trainings and campaigns
Leads development of ethics, integrity, and compliance awareness and marketing campaigns while integrating cultural initiatives
Builds relationships with various stakeholders (including but not limited to IT, OGC, University Audits and Human Resources) to work collaboratively on EIC training and marketing campaigns
Professionalism, strong work ethic, demonstrated sense of responsibility, discretion and reliability
Works with units to identify ethics, integrity, and compliance training needs and recommend proper delivery systems, and training compliance monitoring
Organizes and/or takes part in various committees and teams to consult with unit heads and administrative officials on policy and compliance needs as well as various administrative issues
Coordinates the regular summary of training reports and serves as an information resource within the university community
Coordinates with IT and operations personnel to prepare the environment for online learning rollouts, including technical and operational capabilities; train unit employees to support unit users and deployments
Monitors the organization's standards of conduct and ethical relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers, employees and the communities in which business is conducted
Reviews allegations of unethical activity and develops strategies to eliminate future breaches of the organization's ethics policies

Required Qualifications*
Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of skills and experience
Seven years of experience working in ethics and/or compliance administration
Minimum of five years of experience in delivering various modes of training/programming to adult learners
Background in ethics, auditing, compliance, or risk management, a position-specific master's degree may replace this requirement
Experience working in a highly decentralized organization
Desired Qualifications*
Minimum of two years of supervisory experience or relevant leadership experience
Minimum of two years experience in higher education and program direction, coordination, and implementation
Working knowledge of U-M organizational policies, rules and regulations
