LimnoTech has an opportunity for a scientist or engineer to help meet ongoing and expanding project needs focused primarily on environmental monitoring and the investigation of surface water, wetlands, landscape/watershed assessments, hydrology, and applications of monitoring technology on rivers, lakes, and streams. The selected candidate will work in our Ann Arbor, MI headquarters. This position is not remote and is expected to be 100% in-person in the Ann Arbor office. Come work with us! Responsibilities The engineer or scientist hired will support a variety of projects, including, but not limited to, surface water sampling, biological assessments, environmental sensing deployment and maintenance. The selected candidate should show technical proficiency related to one of the following areas: environmental sensors, environmental/field sampling, data management and data quality review, environmental research on lakes, rivers, and wetlands. The selected candidate may expect to spend between 25% and 75% of their time in the field to start, depending on project needs and time of year. Some projects may require weekend work or extended hours to capitalize on weather conditions or meet deadlines. Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or Engineering, Marine Technology, Marine Science, or Marine/Naval Engineering, Hydrogeology, or related scientific or engineering discipline from an accredited university program is required.

  • Graduate/Master’s degree is not required, but candidates with advanced degrees are encouraged to apply to this position as well.

  • Ability and willingness to work outdoors under a variety of weather conditions.

  • Excellent oral communication skills are essential, as are strong interpersonal skills with respect to interacting with colleagues, clients, and the public.

  • Must be willing and able to travel both within Michigan and to other states for field work, sometimes for extended periods (1-2 weeks at a time).

  • The applicant must be physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs as part of this position.

  • Applicants will be expected to drive company vehicles and must have & maintain a valid driver's license.

  • Must be able to pass a background check for badging and/or working at secure industrial sites and public transportation facilities.

  • Previous experience with boating and trailering is beneficial, but not required.

  • Prior experience with environmental sensors including prototyping, testing, deploying, and maintaining is beneficial, but not required.

  • Previous experience overseeing drilling subcontractors and logging environmental or geotechnical borings is a plus, but not required.
