Job Summary

The Department of Pediatrics of the University of Michigan Health System invites applications from qualified faculty specializing in Pediatric Gastroenterology to lead its Division of Gastroenterology. The Division Director position is a full-time appointment reporting directly to the Chair of the Department of Pediatrics. This highly ranked division is comprised of 16 faculty members and has robust clinical programs in inflammatory bowel disease, motility disorders, eosinophilic esophagitis, intestinal rehabilitation, pancreatic disease, advanced endoscopy, hepatology, and liver transplantation.

The division has multiple clinical research studies and high-profile quality improvement activities in addition to an academic fellowship training program with five current fellows.

Responsibilities include maintaining and growing a strong independent research program, overseeing clinical care delivery, promoting research activities, and engaging in the training and professional development of students, house officers, fellows, and junior faculty.

The Department of Pediatrics includes 17 clinical divisions and over 330 faculty members. C.S. Mott Children's Hospital, a 1.1 million square foot, 12 story, 348-bed facility that opened in 2011, is located on the University of Michigan medical campus.Mott is honored to be the #1 children's hospital in Michigan and ranked in the top 3 in the Midwest by U.S. News and World Report. Mott is also the only hospital in Michigan ranked in all 10 specialties. This state-of-the-art facility includes the on-site Von Voigtlander Women's Hospital birthing center, a Level 1 Children's Surgery Center, and a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center.

Theideal Division Director candidate will have a robust understanding of pediatric gastroenterology operations, a good track record of grant funding, knowledge of the broad scope of gastroenterology research, and be able to effectively lead, mentor, and expand the clinical, research, and education programs of the division.
