The Land and Air Defense Systems (LADS) Strategic Business Unit (SBU) has an exciting opportunity for a Principal Specialist, Contracts to support a major European portfolio with over $2B in Direct Commercial Sale (DCS) contracts .
In this role, you will be responsible for customer communication, contract management, change management, coordination of invoicing, fulfillment of contract requirements in accordance with company policies, legal requirements, and customer specifications. You will need to utilize regular application of thorough business acumen and subject matter expertise to understand program performance requirements, provide guidance, and influence results in support of program and financial objectives. Additionally, the Principal Specialist, Contracts will work closely with Program Management leadership, the Office of General Counsel, and cross-functional peers in support of program gate reviews, program management reviews, business strategy sessions, proposal reviews, risk management activities, and all other contractual related matters affecting the portfolio.
You will work with both internal and external customers to ensure programs' performance, provide guidance, and influence outcomes to achieve desired results. Additionally, you must have a track record of success in Direct Commercial Sales (DCS) and/or International contracting experience including terms and conditions, contract execution, milestone payment plans and with an excellent financial background.
The successful candidate will be expected to have the prerequisite skills and experience to represent Raytheon independently on significant transactions while having ability to develop and maintain trusting relationships with complex customers.
What You Will Do
Effectively communicate with internal and external customers to establish mutually beneficial relationships and influence business decisions
Support the implementation of strategies to improve acquisition timelines and customer pace of contractual actions
Investigate and resolve complex contractual matters by applying astute critical thinking, gathering detailed information, seeking creative contracting techniques, and proactively collaborating with relevant stakeholders
Provide advice and guidance on numerous contractual rights/obligations, regulations, and policy/procedure to mitigate risks and unauthorized changes
Review proposals to ensure proposed solutions meet customer requirements, represent a balanced risk/opportunity posture and deliver a financially sound business case while meeting company policies and standards
Some international travel will be required to meet with customers
Qualifications You Must Have
Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years' experience
The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Experience in DCS contracting and/or international contracts management
Experience with regulatory compliance
Qualifications We Prefer
Demonstrated ability to shape results in support of goals, including ability to communicate and guide executive leadership
Demonstrated ability to work within a team environment and develop effective relationships based on respect and trust
Excellent communication and leadership to establish and maintain effective relationships with complex customers
Excellent time management and organizational skills are essential
Knowledge of the missile defense market
Cross-functional experience in Finance, Integrated Supply Chain, Business Development, or Program Management
MBA or Juris Doctor
Active U.S.Government DoD Secret Security Clearance

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
