DEFINITION: To operate the light construction and maintenance equipment in a variety of maintenance activities.
SUPERVISION: Receives supervision from County Engineer (or Road Administrator), General Foreman or assigned supervisor
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Important responsibilities and duties may include, but not limited to the following: 1. Operate light construction and maintenance equipment, such as off-shoulder type mower, roller, and patch truck 2. May operate various other types of maintenance and construction equipment, for a variety of construction operations. 3. Perform on-going maintenance on roads and equipment as required 4. Assist with various other tasks; flagging, tree trimming, installing signs and barricades. 5. Correctly complete daily worksheets and fuel report, including mileage and or hours 6. Must hold a minimum Class C driver's license 7. Receives ongoing training on all heavy equipment
OTHER IMPORTANT RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: 1. Daily inspections of equipment for proper function and safety. 2. Assist other personnel in mechanical and tire repairs on your equipment 3. Perform other duties as assigned 4. Must keep vehicle and equipment in a safe environment 5. Ensures operators are operating equipment in a safe environment 6. Assist operators in safety inspection of equipment
QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Operation and maintenance of light construction equipment 2. Safe and effective work habits 3. Mechanical and hydraulic knowledge 4. Tractor and equipment
ABILITY TO: 1. Understand and follow oral and written instructions 2. Maintain a variety of records 3. Perform a variety of manual task for extended periods of time and in unfavorable weather conditions 4. Service automotive and light equipment 5. Work independently in the absence of supervision 6. Learn, understand and apply rules and regulations 7. Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing 8. Establish and maintain effective working relations with supervisors, co-workers and public
SALARY RANGE: Starting at $15.87 per hour
