Madison County Government Court Reporter in Anderson, Indiana

The successful applicant for this job will have extensive experience with Court documents, and Courtroom protocol and procedure. [Position serves as Civil Court Reporter for Circuit Court, Division 3, with primary responsibility as court reporter for civil court proceedings. Also performs numerous tasks related to facilitating court trials and hearings as well as facilitating the proper function of the Circuit Court. The successful candidate must successfully interact with existing court staff and employees of other offices. [DUTIES: [This position is the first point of contact between the Court and the public.   • Court reporting (including making electronic and written records of court activity in and out of court, processing court filings and orders, accurate recording, and transcription of court proceedings)
  • Work proficiently in Word, Outlook, Odyssey, Incite, FTR recording software, and other software and internet resources.
  • Clear written and oral communication skills
  • Answer telephone inquiries professionally, following judicial standards/ethics.
  • Politely and professionally assist the public with inquiries and information.
  • Make accurate entries on civil court dockets.
  • Work collaboratively with other staff in various offices.
  • Other duties as may be assigned by the Judge.
  • Serve as backup jury bailiff, as needed.

  • Working knowledge of standard office and court policies, procedures and related terminology and ability to apply such knowledge to a variety of interrelated tasks.
  • Ability to prepare written correspondence and detailed reports.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of department information/records.
  • Previous law office or court experience preferred.
