PowerSouth Energy Cooperative, headquartered in Andalusia, AL, is a generation and transmission (GandT) electric cooperative serving the wholesale power needs of 20 distribution members - 16 electric cooperatives and four municipal electric systems - in Alabama and northwest Florida. JOB SUMMARY and MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
The purpose of this position is to provide support in the Engineering and Operations Division. This position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design facilities to be utilized in the generation, transmission, or distribution of electrical power to ensure members of a reliable power supply
- Review and write specifications for equipment used on PowerSouth's system to ensure PowerSouth equipment meets industry standards
- Perform engineering calculations utilizing standard engineering formulas or computer techniques to ensure proper design and operation of PowerSouth's system
- Complete special projects such as evaluating equipment or developing software to enable PowerSouth to be more efficient in the future
- Ensuring the success of PowerSouth by promoting team work, group goals and objectives, proper communication and cooperation within the department, division, throughout the PowerSouth organization and with member systems
