External Description:

This role will support the Installation Support Services (ISS2) contract at Eareckson Air Station Located in Shemya Alaska.

The Assistant Fire Chief serves in the absence of the Fire Chief as the Chief Executive Officer of the Fire Department, and responsible to the ISS2 Eareckson Air Station Site Manager for the effective, efficient, legal conduct, and contractual compliance of the fire department and its employees. The Assistant Fire Chief performs a variety of technical, administrative, and supervisory work in planning, organizing, directing, and implementing all aspects of the fire department. Such work includes, but is not limited to, creating and maintaining department policies and budgets, ensuring required records are submitted complete and accurate, and ensuring all department services are continually monitored to prevent the loss of life and property by fire and/or emergency medical conditions. The Assistant Fire Chief will also be responsible as a member, or head of the instillation’s Incident Command Staff for Eareckson Air Station working directly with the U.S. Department of Defense, contractors and additional private or government entities as required.

Sound judgment, professional conduct, commitment to customer service and community, and proven leadership skills are the prime factors of this position. The Fire Chief must be able to demonstrate the ability to perform and lead others calmly and efficiently in crisis situations. Has working knowledge of and the ability to maintain accurate records and prepare timely reports required by company and federal organizations and agencies. Demonstrates strength, stamina, and endurance to perform firefighting and departmental duties.

Requirements :

As a member of the company’s local management team, the Assistant Fire Chief must have strong technical skills in the areas of assignment as well as the ability to understand and support the mission, vision, and guiding values and principles of ASRCC.

Extensive knowledge in all phases of fire protection and/or emergency medical services work including, principles and practices of modern fire control, prevention, and investigation delivery and management.

Thorough knowledge of the policies, rules and regulations of the company, and customer as well as a working knowledge of applicable technical orders, policies, procedures, and international codes affecting fire and emergency response services and contractual compliance.

Ability to respond to emergency situations and assume or delegate authority appropriately, including the physical abilities to participate in fire suppression and emergency activities as needed.

Strong leadership, management and team building skills including strategic planning, personnel management, problem analysis and decision making, adaptability/flexibility, stress tolerance and time management; with the ability to project and foster a customer focused, and compliant organization.

Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate and present complex ideas/information; and apply appropriate communication techniques to various audiences.

Ability to analyze situations and act quickly, calmly, and effectively under emergency and other stressful circumstances.

Working knowledge and proficiency in the operation of computer equipment and software programs used by the department and company.

Working knowledge and the ability to research current information pertaining to and design, authorize and disseminate policies and procedures according to U.S. Department of Defense, U.S. Air Force, company, and local policies.

Must possess a high school diploma or GED

15 years’ experience in fire and emergency response, with (4) years' experience in fire operations and management at an executive fire officer level.

Trained and certified by either an accredited certification academy recognized by Air Force Civil Engineer Support Agency (AFCESA), Pro Board and or IFSAC. Certified IAW DoDI 6055.06, DoD Fire and Emergency Services (F&ES) Program.
