Overview

UIC Commercial Services (UIC DPB) is headquartered in Anchorage, Alaska and a subsidiary of Ukpeagvik Iñupiat Corporation, the Alaska Native Village Corporation of Barrow, Alaska. On-Call Receptionist Summary: Operate telephone switchboard to answer, screen, and forward calls, providing information, and taking messages. Receptionist will provide general office support with a variety of clerical activities and related tasks. The receptionist will be responsible for, mail distribution, flow of correspondence, requisition of supplies, as well as additional clerical duties.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Greets persons entering establishment, determine nature and purpose of visit, and directs or escorts them to specific location

  • Takes and retrieves messages for various personnel.

  • Provides callers with information such as company address, directions, to the company location, company fax numbers, company website, and other related information.

  • Receives, sorts, and forwards incoming mail. Maintains and routes publications.

  • Coordinates the pick-up and delivery of express mail services (Fed Ex, UPS, etc).

  • Assists in ordering, receiving, stocking, and distribution of office supplies.

Knowledge and Critical Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong organizational skills; excellent verbal and written communication skills; possess exceptional interpersonal communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as to accept direction given on assignments.

  • Reliability a must.

  • May also assist with other related clerical duties such as photocopying, faxing, and filing, shredding. Required Experience:

  • 6 months – 1 year of relevant experience and/or training or equivalent.

  • Strong organizational skills; excellent verbal and written communication skills; possess exceptional interpersonal communications skills.

  • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as to accept direction on given assignments.

  • Able to work collectively with a group.

Physical Demands:

  • The Receptionist will have to spend long hours sitting and using office equipment and computers, which can cause muscle strain.

  • The Receptionist may also have to do some light lifting of supplies and materials from time to time.

  • Regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.

  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

  • While performing the duties of this class, the employee is regularly required to work on multiple concurrent tasks with constant interruptions.

  • Read and interpret documents and information.

  • Use oral communication skills; interact with the general public and other staff in the office.

Work Environment Summary:

  • The employee works under typical office conditions, and the noise level is moderately quiet.
