JOB Summary

Contributing, Experienced Engineer within the Engineering and Technical Support Department who designs rigs and rig sub-systems, manages capital construction projects, and provides technical support to the Company's Operations, Marketing, and Purchasing departments to maintain rig productivity.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

o Engineer based out of Nabors Anchorage Office to provide engineering support for Nabors Rigs on the North Slope.

o Develop and manage engineering design scopes for New Rig Construction, Refurbishing, Modification / Upgrade, and Maintenance activities, including scope of work, drafting oversight and final drawing issuance

o Performs engineering calculations, drawing review and other engineering due diligence in relation to above

o Provides construction management (including scheduling and cost control) and engineering support for rig construction activities

o Provides technical support to the Operations, Marketing, and Purchasing departments, including on-site troubleshooting

o Maintains current knowledge of new drilling equipment and practices

o Maintain current knowledge of new project management techniques and practices

o Review research, analyses, internal and supplier specifications, manuals, and other data supporting team and project needs to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs or applications

o Review product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, client contract requirements, and related specifications; and, review and recommend capital equipment for Capital and Equipment Standards committees

o Coordinates with sub-contractors and oversee their progress and quality

o Assists in audits of sub-contractors

o Participates in the evaluation of new equipment

o Supervises personnel assigned to capital projects Project accounting and other support staff. Including:

o Sub-contractor project managers/supervisors

o Transportation contractors

o Quality assurance contractors

o Any additional duties assigned by management

Minimum qualifications / SKILLS

o 10 years of experience with at least 5 years in contract drilling

o University degree in Engineering, Mechanical or Civil/Structural

o Proficiency in equipment, drilling systems and components

o Proficient with structural analysis and/or FEA modelling software, preferably Solidworks Simulation, StruCAD and/or RISA 3D

o Proficient experience with drafting software such as AutoCAD and/or Solidworks

o Proficiency in safety codes, welding procedures and material

o Proficient knowledge of API, IADC, ASME, AISC and relevant safety codes and welding procedures

o Proficient in Word, Excel, Access and MS Project/P6

o Ability to read and explain drawings to field personnel

o Education and Training:

o University degree in Engineering or equivalent

o Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Alaska

· Solid Structural / Mechanical Skills as relates to Drilling Rigs – well versed in all subsystems

o Experience with structural design and/or piping systems, drilling systems and equipment.

o Working knowledge of AOGC, API, IADC, ASME, AISC, ABS AWS, and relevant Safety Codes

· Proficient knowledge of CAD, Solidworks, Risa 3D, StruCad, MS Project and Microsoft office.

physical requirements / working conditions

Engineer position may require periods of extended travel to domestic or international rig locations equating to approximately 25% of time worked.
