GCI Communication Corp eLearning Content Developer in Anchorage, Alaska

GCI's eLearning Content Developer will address and evaluate training needs by crafting customized, engaging eLearning experiences. Leveraging AGILE methodology to design interactive learning modules that inspire learners to change and/or adopt new behaviors and develop new skills. Develop wireframes, storyboards and use various authoring tools to create impactful eLearning content, incorporating rich media elements such as graphics, audio, video, animation, interaction, and games for company-wide and department-specific initiatives. Enhances programs, courses and learning initiatives that will enrich the learning journey for employees across various departments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES AT ALL LEVELS:

  • Craft and Deliver Engaging Learning Experiences: Develop and deliver high-quality educational and training programs, including courses, curriculums, training materials, multimedia presentations, interactive modules, and video/audio scripts. Ensure the content resonates with modern learners and aligns with corporate objectives.

  • Collaborate with Experts for Impact: Work closely with subject matter experts (SMEs) and cross-functional teams to create compelling online courses, modules, and multimedia resources that effectively convey instructional content to learners.

  • Manage LMS Content: Collaborate with team members to seamlessly upload and deploy eLearning content, ensuring an accessible and organized learning experience for employees.

  • Facilitate Virtual Learning Excellence: Provide technical coordination and production support for live virtual training sessions using advanced tools. Design virtual classrooms following industry best practices, assuming the role of a producer for live online training. Ensure smooth operation and successful delivery of virtual corporate training sessions.

Additional Job Requirements:

This position offers a gateway to the dynamic world of modern eLearning development. The ability to work independently while performing moderate level projects, tasks, and diverse duties under deadlines and constraints is required. Must have working knowledge and expertise in a learning and development environment. High degree of self-initiative and ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks with independent decision-making. Works under moderate supervision while closely collaborating with seasoned professionals, gaining firsthand experience in contemporary eLearning technologies, and contributing to the creation of impactful learning content that resonates with and tailored to the digital-savvy learner.

Essential Duties:

Design and Deliver Impactful Learning Content

  • Custom design and delivery of instructional programs, including courses, curriculums, training documentation, multimedia presentations, computer-based training, video and audio scripts, tutorials, and training modules.

  • Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) and cross-functional teams to develop engaging learning content and assessment questions. Manage the end-to-end content development process, ensuring quality and alignment with objectives.

  • Utilize a variety of authoring tools, like Storyline, Lectora, including the Adobe Creative Cloud (e.g., Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere, Illustrator), simulation tools (Captivate, Camtasia), and synchronous learning platforms (e.g., Zoom, MS Teams and other platforms).

  • Apply adult learning theories, instructional design methodologies, and AGILE principles to create effective learning solutions. Implement Analysis/ Design/ Development/ Implementation/ Evaluation (ADDIE) methods to drive content development.

  • Craft interactive eLearning courses and training modules that utilize blended learning approaches and various instructional methodologies.

Collaborative Excellence

  • Collaborate with senior developers, subject matter experts, and cross-functional teams to ensure learning content's accuracy, relevance, and alignment with organizational goals.

  • Assist in content management and integration, ensuring seamless access and navigation within learning platforms.

Technological Proficiency and Methodology Application

  • Learn and proficiently utilize eLearning tools and platforms, staying current with industry advancements to enhance learning experiences.

  • Apply instructional design methodologies and AGILE principles to create adaptive and engaging learning content that meets the evolving needs of modern learners.

Multimedia Support and Video Production

  • Provide support in video production and editing, contributing to the creation of multimedia-rich learning assets.

  • Collaborate with teams to design visually appealing and effective video modules, ensuring high-quality content.

Analytics and Reporting

  • Generate engagement and effectiveness reports, analyzing eLearning participation, learner performance, and content effectiveness to drive continuous improvement.

LMS Management, Technical Support and Virtual Training Coordination

  • Manage the Learning Management System (LMS), including loading course content, content restructuring, user database maintenance, and developing/maintaining user guides.

  • Provide technical coordination and production support for live virtual training sessions, leveraging best practices in virtual classroom design and operation.

  • Fulfill the role of a producer for live online training, ensuring successful delivery of virtual classes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with senior eLearning developers and subject matter experts to ideate, design, and produce eLearning modules, tutorials, videos, and multimedia content.

  • Assist in managing the content development lifecycle, from content curation and organization to integrating assessment elements.

  • Learn and apply industry-standard authoring tools and virtual training platforms to contribute to the creation of interactive and immersive eLearning experiences.

  • Gain insights into Adult Learning Principles and modern instructional design strategies to enhance the efficacy of training content.

  • Support research efforts and collaborate with experts to gain a deeper understanding of instructional requirements and learning objectives.

  • Contribute to the production of video modules, participating in scripting, basic editing, and lighting setup.

  • Assist in generating insightful reports on eLearning engagement and effectiveness to drive continuous improvement.

  • Play a role in maintaining the Learning Management System (LMS), including content uploads and basic organization to ensure a seamless learning experience.

  • Provide valuable technical support during live virtual training sessions, guided by senior team members.

Minimum Qualifications:

Required: *A combination of relevant work experience and/or education sufficient to perform the duties of the job may substitute to meet the total years required on a year-for-year basis

  • High School diploma or equivalent.

  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Education, Learning Technologies, Multimedia Design, Communication, or related field. *

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in training development and delivery in support of Customer Service and/or technical functions. *

  • Including at least one (1) year of experience using Adobe Creative Cloud applications (Photoshop, InDesign, Premier, Illustrator, Adobe Captivate, Storyline, Camtasia).

Preferred:

  • Telecommunications experience.

  • Relevant telecom industry or job specific certifications.

DRIVING REQUIREMENTS:

  • This position may require access to reliable transportation for occasional travel between retail store locations, offices, worksites, or other locations as needed.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS and WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Work is primarily sedentary, requiring daily routine computer usage.

  • Ability to work shifts as assigned, work in standard office/home office setting, and operate standard office equipment.
