Position Summary:The Department of Quantitative Studies at the University of Alaska, Anchorage includes the disciplines of Mathematics and Statistics. The department offers courses leading to and including Tier 1 Quantitative Literacy General Education Requirements. This includes all 0- and 100-level Math courses as well as Elementary Statistics. Adjunct positions are on a semester-by-semester basis. Successful acceptance into the adjunct pool does not guarantee an offer of an appointment. This is an adjunct labor pool and applicants are hired based on departmental need.

Duties:

100 The incumbent will be responsible for teaching one or more undergraduate and/or preparatory courses in Mathematics or Statistics in a manner consistent with the specific course content guide. Adjunct faculty are expected to hold office hours appropriate for the course(s) being taught. Essential

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:Knowledge of accepted instruction methods. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Public speaking skills. Customer service skills.

Typical Experience:

2 years relevant experience.

Required Education or Training:

Bachelor's degree/Master's degree in field related to the position, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Salary Information:

Adjunct instructors are hired on a semester-by-semester appointment. Qualified applicants for this position will be placed into a hiring pool from which instructors will be hired as needed. Acceptance into the hiring pool does not constitute an offer of an appointment, nor does having worked one semester guarantee that a position will be available the following semester; hiring decisions are made on a semester-by-semester basis according to the needs of that semester's schedule. Salary is based on the number of previous semesters teaching experience within the University of Alaska. Minimum pay is $1,198.80 per credit.
