Hourly Rate: $35.35-$45.96
Job Summary:
• Communicates with patients prior to scheduled surgery to ensure that required patient education and clinical assessment are accomplished.
Responsibilities:
• Conducts an in-depth interview with patient to ensure full understanding of the surgical procedure, required preparation, and all other relevant information.
• Reviews patient s medical history and medications, assesses health status, and identifies any medical anomalies that may impact planned surgery.
• Initiates consultation with other physicians and/or orders additional pre-operative testing, as needed.
• Provides counsel to patient or patient s representative regarding timing, transportation before and after surgery, and planning for in-patient stay as needed.
Education: • High School Diploma/GED required • Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing required.
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
Required Credential(s): • BLS Provider obtained within 3 Months (90 days) of hire date or job transfer date. • Registered Nurse credentialed from the New York Board of Nursing.
Complexity of Work: • Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment.
Personal Protective Equipment: • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.\Must be able to speak, read, write and follow instructions in English
