GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: A Grinder operates electric or pneumatic hand grinders, as well as other heavy manufacturing equipment to clean pre-welded parts, welded parts, and steel parts. This position adheres to all safety guidelines. Grinders work under the direction of the Production Leader and other manufacturing leaders.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:- Utilize 5-8lbs electric or pneumatic hand grinders to clean pre-welded parts, welded parts, and steel parts.- May utilize a 40lbs magnetic drill to bore holes.- Lift material and parts.- Transfer and load parts to correct manufacturing department location.- Assist team members with moving and handling parts, manually or by crane use.- When requested, perform other manual work including cleanup activities, garbage removal, facility painting, and snow removal.- Change consumables as needed and perform required safety inspections on equipment.- Must be able to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE).- Actively participate in cross training and continuous improvement assignments. - Work cooperatively with coworkers including training and knowledge sharing.- Learn new skills, techniques and equipment operation as assigned.- Maintain clean and organized work area conditions and comply with safety requirements.- Receive direction from team lead and other designated leader.- May work overtime as production needs require.- Other duties as assigned.- Perform work in a safe manner, complete all required safety inspections and adhere to safety rules and guidelines including safely operate crane and/or forklift if trained and assigned.QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, and SKILLS: High school diploma or GED. Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with management and co-workers. Must be able to understand English language and be understood. If work demands require lifting more than 50 pounds, the use of a mechanical device or initiation of a two-person lift is required.
