The electric vehicle (EV) market is well past the tipping point and continues to grow at a rapid pace within the US, Europe and elsewhere. Critical to the transition to electric vehicles is the expansion of the EV charging infrastructure. CBRE has extensive experience in finding, securing, designing, engineering, installing and maintaining EV charging sites for clients in a diverse range of sectors, including On-the-Go Fast, Fleet, Workplace and Destination Charging.

About the role:

In March 2023, CBRE established a dedicated EV Solutions Center of Excellence (CoE), to coordinate the development of a differentiated value proposition for our clients, and to develop a central team to support our dedicated account teams and our clients in their electrification journey. CBRE’s EV solution is structured across four main areas:

  • Plan, Find & Transact: electrification consultancy, site selection, grants/incentives management, site acquisition, transaction management;

  • Design, Build & Electrify: site design, engineering, permitting, construction, utility engagement, commissioning;

  • Operate & Maintain: EV charging infrastructure preventative and corrective maintenance, optimized operations;

  • Integrated Program Management: across the full project lifecycle, including program analytics, cost assurance.

As CBRE has successfully launched its EV Charging solution, the company is now looking to recruit a leader for EV Charging Business Development & Sales in Europe. CBRE is the world’s largest provider of real estate brokerage, project management and facilities management services. We serve many of the largest European and worldwide corporations. EV charging provides an increasingly important extension to CBRE’s services to our existing and new clients.

The Head of Business Development & Sales, EV Charging Solutions, Europe will bring a deep understanding of the European EV charging market, and will use this experience to identify focus market segments, priority customers within each segment, and work closely with CBRE’s Sales and Account Management organization, to pursue these opportunities.

Additionally, you will:

  • Coordinate across CBRE’s multiple Sector teams and business lines, to ensure the delivery of a consistent, high-quality EV charging offer to our clients;

  • Act as a subject matter expert (SME) on sales pursuits with major existing and prospective clients, bringing EV charging expertise to the in-country team’s deep understanding of the client’s operations and needs;

  • In partnership with the Product team, contribute to the development of commercial terms, including pricing and standard contract documents that will form the baseline for commercial negotiations and that achieve desired CBRE pricing criteria/governance;

  • Ensure that CBRE’s EV charging product and offer are consistently used in sales pursuits;

  • Act as a feedback loop to CBRE’s EV Charging Product team, to provide a Voice of Customer perspective for further enhancements to the product suite;

  • Be a key member of the EV Solutions CoE global leadership team, representing the critically important European market;

  • Liaise closely with colleagues based in the US and other regions, on worldwide sales pursuits or European pursuits with US-headquartered clients;

  • Network with industry partners and relevant professional organizations and provide feedback to the EV Solutions CoE about industry trends;

  • Provide feedback to the EV Solutions CoE about the competitive landscape, including new offers, M&A, major wins/losses;

  • Ensure a smooth transition from sales to delivery, through close cooperation with the Solutions and delivery teams;

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred with 12-15 years of relevant experience. In lieu of a degree, a combination of experience and education will be considered.

  • At least 3 years of experience in EV charging, in particular infrastructure design, engineering and/or deployment of EV charging infrastructure;

  • Proven track record in Business Development and Sales;

  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and written communication abilities (in English, and at least one other key European language) with various stakeholders;

  • Demonstrated ability to lead a commercial/deal team;

  • Demonstrated capability to lead customer discussions towards problem resolution, transforming business and technical requirements into clear, high-quality solutions for clients;

  • Ability to lead through influence, as the role will require close collaboration with a broad range of CBRE Sales, Solutions and Account team colleagues, with various levels of understanding of the EV landscape;

  • Financial fluency and acumen;

  • International experience is a plus – demonstrated ability to be successful in different market environments and cultural settings;

  • Experience with distributed renewable energy (solar) and battery storage is a plus.
