Philips Internship: Climate Mitigation & Adaption in Amsterdam, Netherlands

Job title: Internship: Climate Mitigation and Adaption

Starting Date : ASAP

Duration : 6 months (with preference to extend)

Location : Amsterdam (Eindhoven day once a month)

Contract : 32/40h per week

As an intern in the Climate Action team, you will have the opportunity to drive Philips effort in decarbonization. You will also play a critical role in building Philips Climate resilience in face of intensifying extreme weather conditions.

Your role:

  • Collaborate with the Climate Action Program Director to oversee emission reduction initiatives and key performance indicators (KPIs). Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of emission calculations and take a proactive stance to aid our businesses in their decarbonization efforts.

  • Assist in adhering to external reporting frameworks such as CDP and Dow Jones Sustainability Index. Actively engage in disclosure efforts by gathering essential information from internal stakeholders and contributing to various reports.

  • Support the Climate Action and Sustainable Sites team in analyzing and mitigating our reliance on air freight. Conduct interviews to uncover reasons behind the preference for air freight in certain business units, identify key pain points, and contribute to proposed solutions aimed at encouraging alternative transportation methods.

  • Collaborate with the climate risk management team to quantify the potential value at risk due to climate change. Play a pivotal role in building a resilient value chain by actively participating in the assessment of climate-related risks and proposing strategies for risk mitigation.

  • Aid the Climate Action Program Manager in organizing live webinars and interactive events to enhance awareness and support for emission-reducing actions and innovations. Facilitate the execution of these events by collecting relevant information and summarizing key points in easily understandable slides for both internal and external stakeholders.

You're the right fit if:

  • Degree in a relevant field like Business Administration, Environment, Policy, Sustainability, Innovation and Strategy, etc;

  • Passionate and knowledgeable about sustainability. Knowledge of the GHG protocol and other major disclosure frameworks (TCFD, CDP, etc.) is strongly preferred.

  • Excellent English verbal and written skills

  • Excellent analytical skills including MS office (especially excel and power query skills will beneficial for this internship)

In return, we offer you

  • Monthly full-time allowance between €500 - €700 gross, depending on educational level and if you would need to relocate to The Netherlands. If you will perform a part-time internship you will receive the allowance pro-rata.

  • Housing compensation, in case of relocating to the vicinity of the office, €300,- net if location is in the vicinity of Amsterdam, €255,- net for all other Philips locations. You need to provide a rental contract of the land lord, and your normal home-work travel distance need to be more than 50 km or travel time (one way trip) need to be more than 1.5 hours.

  • Travel compensation, if you are not eligible for a free public transport card; you will receive max. €145,- net

  • Paid holidays per internship term.

  • The opportunity to buy Philips equipment at our Philips shop

IMPORTANT:

  • Part of our selection procedure is a HireVue online interview recording. We are not able to share the outcome of this HireVue interview but will use this as extra selection criteria.

  • In order to be considered, you have to be registered as a student during the entire internship period. Formal documentation will be requested. Students from outside the EU enrolled at a Dutch university need to fill in a NUFFIC agreement – which needs to be signed by the student and the university.

  • Please note that the contents of our regular internship assignments are not suitable for professionals (and/or MBA students) with professional work experience.
