Mary Greeley Medical Center TECHNICAL COORDINATOR in Ames, Iowa
Under general supervision of the unit director and using independent judgment, provides assistance with the inpatient medical-surgical program performing a set of diverse duties.
Unit Specific Position Responsibilities
Creates preliminary unit schedule for approval and assists with schedule edits
Compiles monthly reports and completes audits as needed
Developing and updating unit-specific forms, spreadsheets, and databases
Assists with staffing coverage: phone calls/WENS system to notify staff as needed based on surgical caseload, census/acuity changes.
Equipment inventory including input into equipment needs prior to budget cycle, IV pump counts, and identifies equipment for preventative maintenance by biomedical department Developing and maintaining inventory and files
Developing and maintaining designated supply inventory and files
Standardizing nurses stations and equipment rooms
Assembles transition care clipboards and monitors inventory of transition education booklets
Responsible for Environment of Care Rounds and issue resolution
Updates designated bulletin boards with pertinent flyers and Know-Share-Dos.
Keeping unit meeting, SDMT meeting minutes, and other meetings as assigned
Updating unit SharePoint site
Updating unit huddle records
Kronos timecard edits and time and attendance input
Lawson supply ordering
Opening and distributing mail
Communicate copy count to mailroom
Updates huddle board with information gathered at weekly huddle meeting.
Represents the Medical Center to the public; greets patients, visitors, physicians, and others and assists with wayfinding during normal business hours.
Prints patient lists for patient safety volunteers
Schedules conference rooms for unit-specific meetings and events (SDMT, Monthly Celebrations, holiday gatherings) including AV equipment, food, etc.
Facilitates ISU football/basketball team visits including communicating lists of patients to community relations and escorting the teams to patient rooms
Enters completed education, unit meetings, Quarterly update attendance information into NetLearning
Delivers lab specimens or obtains medications from the pharmacy department for urgent needs when tube system is undergoing maintenance.
Transports patients to McFarland clinic for appointments as needed.
Makes follow-up appointments as needed
Special projects and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience
Required Qualifications (Including any licensure, certification, education):
De-escalation training prior to performing direct patient care or within 90 days of hire
Experience with Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Kronos
Highschool diploma or GED
Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
High school graduate or equivalent and two years of related experience; health care preferred
Ability to provide a full range of clerical services including use of discretionary judgment in dispensing information; ability to compose letters or memoranda, prepare reports and establish and maintain records, files; ability to deal effectively with the public, co-workers and volunteers in a courteous manner
Knowledge of basic spelling, punctuation, grammar and basic business math; knowledge of general office practices and procedures and knowledge of human relations skills.
Strong interpersonal communication skills
Ability to analyze problems, determine corrective measures and initiate corrective action within the limits of operational policy. Ability to supervise effectively. Demonstrates a professional attitude.
Ability to prioritize multiple work demands and work independently with minimal supervision.
Experience with Microsoft Office products including Word and Excel.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
Experience with Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Kronos.
Previous healthcare experience.
Knowledge of clinical systems and reporting and data for reporting requirements
