Job Description:
Thielen Student Health Center seeks a qualified candidate for the position of Revenue Cycle Representative. The successful candidate will provide excellent customer service to patients and families as needed regarding the billing process. Thielen Student Health Center is a full-service medical clinic in Ames, Iowa, staffed with physicians, advanced registered nurse practitioners and nurses. Our team is available to care for the Iowa State University students’ primary health care needs.
Example of Duties
• Analyzes and verifies patient demographic, insurance eligibility and financial information/responsibility for accurate claim submission and reimbursement.• Resolves patient billing account concerns in order to obtain appropriate reimbursement and patient satisfaction in partnership with University Accounts Receivables.• Initiates the sending or refunding of charges on the patient’s University Bill as appropriate. • Documents, correct and assures the accurate information is in the patient billing system.• Contacts appropriate third-party payers to verify eligibility of benefits and coverage.• Maintains a high level of accuracy to meet productivity and quality requirements.• Complies with the established cash handling policies of the department.• Obtains prior authorizations from third-party payers when necessary.• Reconciles payments from third-party payers and University Accounts Receivables with both paper and electronic remittance advices.• Assists with follow-up regarding medical record inquiries.
