Job Description

This is a

third shift position; the starting wage for this position is $22.50 an hour plus shift differential and shift incentive.

One day might be repairing pavement, the next might be installing signs, or be out plowing snow. No two days are exactly alike!

While a CDL permit is required upon hire, you must have Class A and endorsements / restrictions on your CDL within 5 months following your hire date.

CDL Training for Iowa Department of Transportation employees is provided! Entry Level Driver Training is available if you do not already possess Class A and endorsements / restrictions on your CDL for positions that require it.Those eligible will receive both hands-on Behind-the-Wheel Range and Road training, with web-based Theory training, to fulfill required state and federal regulations.

Location:

Grimes Maintenance Garage -

Within five (5) months, employees are required to reside within 45 minutes driving time, during normal conditions, from assigned work location.

Shift:

10:00 PM to 6:30 AM, Sunday through Friday. Hours may vary and are subject to be on call 24 hours a day during emergency and / or weather conditions. Some overnight travel may be required.

No matter the weather condition, youll keep the roads safe by: - mowing / cutting brush - disposing of litter and debris - repairing roadside waterways - operating snow equipment - grading / paving projects - assisting paint / bridge crews - participating in traffic control for Maintenance activities - performing routine maintenance and service of DOT equipment and vehicles - using DOT technical devices and software applications - completing other duties as assigned

Requirements: - May be required to obtain pesticide/herbicide certifications or other certifications as needed
